Praise the Lord
Today I am going to tell a story about the Prodigal son
This story is mentioned in Luke chapter 15 in the New testament
Once upon a time, there lived a certain rich man in a town with two sons. The
elder son was very obedient to his father and helped him in his work. The younger
son was very disobedient. One day he came and told his father: Father, give me
my share of the property. And the father divided his money between the two
sons.
Few days later, the younger son took all his money and left his home and went to
live in a far away country. There he made a lot of new friends and lived a splendid
life. Soon, all his money got over. Now the young man found himself alone,
hungry, without friends and without any money. He knocked many doors for work
so that he can have little food. But all he could find was the job of watching over a
herd of pigs in a muddy little farm.
The work in the farm was very miserable and he barely got any food to eat. Then
one day the young man said to himself: here I am hungry and unhappy. In my
father’s house are many servants who work for him and have plenty to eat. I
sinned against heaven and my father and I am not worthy to be my father’s son
anymore. But I will ask him to forgive me and make me one of his servant.
He decided to go back home. As he was nearing home, his father saw him and ran
to him and hugged him. The son said: father I am sorry for what I have done to
god and you. The father consoled him and took him home. The father was very
happy that his son returned home. He called his servants and said. “ Bring the
best clothes for my son. Put a golden ring on his finger and shoes for his feet.
Prepare a feast and celebrate as my son who was lost is found again.
When the elder some came back from the fields, he heard the music and dancing
in the house. He called one of the servants and asked him what had happened. He
learned that the family is feasting because his younger brother had returned
home. He was not very pleased. But when the father heard that the older son
doesn’t to join them. He came to him and said: my son , you have always been
with me. All I have is yours too. But today we should be glad because your brother
was like one dead and he is alive again. He was like one lost but now found again.
Through this parable, god teaches us that he loves his children in all situations.
Even if we sin and go away from him, He is kind enough to forgive us and take us
back ,like the father in this story.
