1. DESCRIPTION
Used for determining of bitumen percentage in bituminous mixtures by centrifuge extraction
method the unit is mounted in a metal case with electric motor, electronic circuit and
controls.
2. INSTALLATION
The apparatus should be placed on a flat and levelled surface.
3. SAFETY STANDARD
ATTENTION: the machine must be earthed and recommended that, it is connected to the
mains by magnetic and thermic switch.
If flammable / toxic solvents are to be used make the test within a fume cupboard with goad
ventilation. The manufacturer should not be responsible for damages caused by incorrect
use. Never run the machine while the outer cover is removed.
4. USE OF THE MACHINE
- Plug into suitable power, using a non-flammable flexible sheath to protect
cable.
- Release the 3 clamps on the sides of the machine.
- Remove the lid of rotating bowl
- Place the weighed bituminous sample in the bowl trying to spread equally
avoiding centrifugal vibrations.
- Fit the filter paper between the body and the cover of the bowl.
- Fit the external cover and 3 clamps.
- Place a large beaker under outlet nozzle.
- Start the motor and adjust the speed to max around 15 seconds,
- Keep on rotating till the discoloured solvent comes through out the nozzle.
- switch off the motor and apply brake.
- After complete stop open clamps and outer cover and the lid of bowl.
- Remove the filter
- Scrape the adhering material into a bowl,
- Weight the aggregate
5. MAINTENANCE
DISCONNECT the apparatus from mains before cleaning,
Clean periodically the frame and the bowl with a suitable product.
