UNIT 1:

Good morning teacher. May I introduce myself? My name

is Tran The Bao. I’m 18 years old. Currently, I am a first-
year student majoring in e-commerce at Hanoi Open
University. Let me present about topic. My topic is…………

1. Your typical day

My day is quiet normal, like many other students. I usually start my day at
5.00 am. Every morning, I exercise until 5:30, then have breakfast and go to
school at 5:50 am. I go to school by bus. The distance from my house to
school is about 17 km, so it takes me more than 1 hour to get there. My class
starts at 7:30 and ends at 11:10am. At noon, I go home to eat and then take a
nap until 3pm. In the afternoon, I spend time hanging out with my friends. In
the evening, after having dinner with my family, I do my homework and go
to bed at 11 pm. That’s a typical day for me.

UNIT 2:

1. Your future job

My future job is to become a business. I want to be a salesperson or open a

store selling a certain product. The reason I like doing business is because I
am inspired by famous businessman in the word such as Warren Buffett, Bill
Gates, Steve Jobs and Elon Musk. I admire them very much. Now, in
addition to studying, I also research more materials and read books to
understand more about different ways of selling. I hope I will earn a lot of

 money and be successful in life. I will study hard and try to become a good
businessman because that is my dream.

UNIT 3:
1. Your free time activities

My favorite leisure activity is listening to music. The type of music I like is pop
music. I like listening to music because first it not only help me relax but also
provide me with musical knowledge. Secondly, it makes me relax after a hard-
working day. Thirdly, listening to music is a form of entertainment that helps keep
my mind more comfortable. It also helps my broaden my English vocabulary and
learning words I don't know. Finally, all of them is a very important piece of my
life. I think they help my soul more plentiful and more love of life.

0. Your hobbies

My favorite hobby is watching movies, listening to music and reading books. In

my free time, I also search for famous movies and watch them. I also learned many
things in movies. Watching movies can improve my skill listening and
pronunciation of English. And listening to music helps me relax after stressful
hours at school. Besides, reading books helps me develop my mindset, I also learn
a lot from reading books. It can be said that those hobbies have helped me feel
much more peaceful and comfortable

UNIT 4:

Your house or apartment

I live in a small house with my family in the countryside. I live here with my
parents and my younger sister. My house looks very pretty with yellow wall. It has
3 floors and a garden. On the first floor, there is a living room, a kitchen and a
bathroom. The living room has a sofa, a table and a TV. In the kitchen, there is
medium-sized fridge with a dining table. On the right of the kitchen, there is a
cupboard and a stove. A bathroom has a sink, a shower and a toilet. To the second
floor, it has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. On the top floor, there is a worship room
and drying ground. I like my garden the most. It has a lot of trees and is very quiet.
I love my house so much.

UNIT 5:

1. A talented person
A talented person I know and admire very much is my friend, Nam. He is
not only smart and good at studying but also plays sports very well. That's
why the girls in class love him so much. Not only does he have good
knowledge, Nam is also a very exemplary class president. He has a very
good leadership talent that makes everyone follow. To become so talented,
Nam studied hard and won many medals and awards. I admire him very
much.
2. A family member that you feel close to

In my family, my mother is the person I am closest to. My mother is a

farmer. Every day my mother wakes up at 4:30 a.m. to go to work. And you
know, farming for a living is hard work, especially during summer time,
when the temperature can go up to nearly 40 degrees which is extremely hot.
But even so, I haven't seen my mother complain at all. Even though it's hard,

 my mother always takes care of my brothers and I, so I love her very much.
In my free time, my mother and I often talk to each other, and sometimes she
even buys food for us. Being with my mother, I feel peaceful and happy. My

UNIT 6:

1. Your friend
I don’t have many friends but I have my best friend name Cham. I’ve known
her since we studied in the same class in primary school. She has a long hair
and she looks so slender. The best thing about her is that she is very kind.
She always helps everyone who needs help. Another amazing personality of
her is brave. She is very smart too and no one in her class smart as she is.
Her favorite is going out with friends, reading books, and shopping. The
reason we are best friends is maybe we are a lot the same things. Thanks to
her, every day I go to work is a happy day.

2. Your day yesterday

Yesterday I woke up at 5.00 am. After that , I exercised until 5:30, had
breakfast and went to school at 5:50 am. I went to school by bus. The
distance from my house to school is about 17 km, so it took me more than 1

UNIT 7

1. Your family
My family has 4 members: my parents, my younger sister, and me. My
father is 46 years old. My mother is 3 years younger than my father. They
are farmers and they also work hard. My younger sister is 16 years old and
she is studying at high school. I’m very close to my family and we have a
great relationship. We enjoy spending time together, whether it's going
shopping or taking a trip during holidays. I love my family so much because
it is the cradle in which I was born and grew up. My family is important to
me because it helped me become a person who is useful to society

2. Your family’s favorite activities

Each member of my family has different favorite activities. My dad likes to
play volleyball with his friends on weekends. In his free time, he often reads
newspapers and watches the news. My mother likes to cook and chat with
friends. My sister likes reading books and listening to music. And I like
watching movies and playing games. Even though we have different
interests, we still have favorite activities together like traveling or shopping.
I like the moment when the whole family travels together and it helps my
family love each other more.

 3. Your life

I live in a family consisting of 4 members: father, mother, younger sister

and me. I was born and raised in a rural area. My life is quite normal. Every
day, I go to school and come home. After having dinner with my family, I
spend time studying. In my free time, I often go out with friends or stay at
home reading books or listening to music. I like most every weekend, I go
shopping with my family. It's my life. Even though there's nothing special, I
still love my life

UNIT 8

1. The food you like

If I had to choose my favorite food, it’d be hamburger. It is quite a popular
dish and very delicious. Hamburger is a type of dish that includes a piece of
ground meat (usually beef) in the middle. Meat can be grilled, fried, smoked
or grilled over an open fire. Burgers are often served with cheese, lettuce,
tomato, onion, pickles, bacon or chili; Also, condiments such as ketchup,
mustard, mayonnaise or "special sauce". Because it's fast food, I can't eat too
much. I eat hamburgers once every 2 weeks. I love its delicious taste along
with melted cheese. I really love this dish.

2. Your favourite restaurant

My favorite restaurant is Suoi Mo restaurant. A restaurant specializing in

serving dishes for family, friends and colleagues. Sometimes my family and
I come here to eat. I was very impressed by the ancient and modern beauty
of this restaurant. Not only that, the space here is very large and clean. Inside
the restaurant there is also a beautiful fish tank.

 The restaurant has many dishes, but my favorite is Duong Chau fried rice. In
addition, the service attitude of the staff is very enthusiastic. I really love this
restaurant. If I have a chance, I will invite my friends to eat.

UNIT 9:

1. Do you want to live in a big city?

Yes, I want to live in a big city. One of the most biggest reason is that it is
convenient. The city has everything that a person needs. Its convenience appears
in many areas : from public transportation to wealth opportunities, medical,
educational, and welfare conditions. If we live in the city, we will have more job
opportunities and higher salaries. Moreover, living in the city has many things we
can do for entertainment such as cinemas, theaters and shopping centers. Another
reason is that it can provide children with good education. Many universities are
often located in big cities, which is very convenient for students to explore and
study their dream jobs. Living in the city has some considerable advantages that
meet people's needs and it is a interesting place to live.

2. Do you want to live in the countryside?

Yes, I do.
I like living in the countryside because it is not noisy and bustling like the city.
The space here is very quiet and peaceful. Everyone here is friendly and kind,
welcoming and always helping others. Not only that, in the countryside there are
many delicious specialties that are not available in the city. In addition, in the
countryside there will be no pollution or traffic jams like the city because there is
little traffic.

 I live in a rural area. Here, the space is very peaceful and quiet. Early in the
morning, farmers wake up very early to work. Life in the countryside is not
as bustling and bustling as in the city. Here, people often sleep very early.
Sometimes in the afternoon, I often invite my friends to play in the field.

Hello, I will tell you about Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. It is

located in the center of the Red River Delta, and is Vietnam's
largest economic, cultural and political center.
It has many buildings and shopping centers. Traffic there is

peaceful and poetic. The smell of milk flowers along the
roads when walking at night on the streets.
Hanoi is famous for One Pillar Pagoda, President Ho Chi Minh
Mausoleum, Bat Trang pottery village, and many other
famous places. It also has lots of specialties, and the thing I
like best is Pho. Hanoi people are very open-minded and
friendly.
I think Hanoi is a great place to live and work.

4. One of your neighbors

One of my neighbors is a neighbor woman who lives next door. Her name is
Nga. She is very young and beautiful. She has a tall and thin figure, long
hair and an oval face. Her hobbies are shopping and gardening. She is very
kind. Occasionally, she often gives my family gifts from her travels. I often
go to her house to visit, she gives me a lot of delicious food. She is also a
very funny person, she often tells jokes to children, so all the children in the
neighborhood love her.

5. One of your favorite teachers

One of my favorite teachers is Ms. Nga. She is the one who taught me for 2 years
when I was in middle school. She has a petite figure and shoulder-length hair. Ms.
Nga has a very clear voice. Although she is a bit strict, she loves her students very
much. I remember one time I didn't memorize the lesson and was punished by the
teacher, I was very sad. But since that time I have worked a lot harder. So I am
very grateful to my teacher. I love her very much.

UNIT 11:

1. Your future travel plans

Traveling is my hobby. Therefore, every year I always plan my trips. I plan
to travel to Hue next summer with my family. The first thing I want to do
when I come to Hue is to see the poetic and lyrical Perfume River and listen
to Hue songs on the Perfume River. I'm also planning trips for many years to
come. 5 years later, I plan to go to Japan to explore this country's unique
cuisine. 7 years later, I will travel to Sweden and 10 years from now, I plan
to go to Spain. And that is my future travel plan. I will try to study and earn
a lot of money to achieve that.

2. Your plans for this weekend

Because I have a Philosophy test this Sunday, I plan to review on Saturday.
Saturday morning, I will go to the market with my mother and help her clean the
house. After lunch I will review for tomorrow's test. Sunday morning I will take
the exam from 8am to 11am. After the exam, I will go out with friends. We will
meet for coffee and chat. In the evening, I will spend 2 hours studying. After
finishing studying, I will watch movies to relax. That's my plan for this weekend.

3. Your last holiday

Last summer, I had a memorable holiday on the beach with my family. I lied
down on the sandy beaches and ate many seafood dishes. It’s so delicious. I
also swam and rowed with my friends. My dad played volleyball with his

 friends. My mom and my younger sister were sunbathing. In the evening, we
had dinner together at the restaurant and then watched everyone perform.
Everyone was very happy and enthusiastic. On the last day off, my family
and everyone participated in environmental protection activities. We picked
up plastic bottles and trash on the beach. It was fun and I loved my holiday
and I can’t wait to holiday next year.

UNIT 12:

1. Your English class

I have attended to an English class lately. I am very interested in learning

English because it is very useful for me. My teacher is Mrs. Huyen who is
very friendly and enthusiastic. She is about 35 years old. She knows how to
make the lesson interesting and has a good method of teaching English.
There are more than 30 students in my class with many different characters.
In spite of this, we still have ability to work harmoniously together. We
usually play games about previous lessons, so we have many chances to talk
with each other in English, of course. I love my teacherand all the students
in my English class. Sadly, we will not study together for long

2. Your favorite transport

My favorite vehicle is the bicycle. First, cycling is very beneficial for your health. I
am a very busy person and lazy to exercise, so cycling is my favorite choice. In
addition, cycling every morning helps me breathe fresh air. Second, cycling will
not emit gases that pollute the environment. Third, cycling is also very convenient
during traffic jams. I regularly cycle every morning and ride with my friends in the
afternoon.. On weekends, I go to the countryside with my family by bicycle. We

3. The weather in your hometown

The weather in Hanoi is divided into 4 seasons: spring, summer, autumn and
winter. In spring, the weather is cool and pleasant, with a bit of a chilly
wind. This season, trees and flowers bloom and compete to show off their
beauty. In summer, the weather is extremely hot and uncomfortable. This is
the season when people go to the beach a lot. The climate in autumn is dry,
cold, with little rain. This is the season with the best weather of the year. In
winter, the temperature drops, the wind blows cold, and there may be rain.

4. A festival

There are many special festivals in VN but surely Tet is the most important
festival. It is usually held on the 1st day of the first lunar month. On Tet, everyone
will reunite to eat together. Before Tet, people often clean and decorate their
houses. They also go to the market to buy many things to prepare for the holidays.
People will also make banh chung, which is a traditional Vietnamese dish on Tet.
On New Year's Day, children eagerly receive lucky money from adults. And on

Tet, people often watch fireworks displays. I like Tet very much and am looking
forward to Tet next year.

6. Tell people about functions of the smart phone.

In modern life, we often talk about smartphones and their

wonderful functions. Firstly, it helps us text and contact easier.
Moreover, we can make a video call with someone who lives
abroad. Secondly, a smart phone helps us grasp information more
quickly, and it makes us relax after a stressful day at school or
the workplace. It also helps us access social networking sites such
as Facebook, TikTok, Youtube or Instagram. Thirdly, smart phones
help us take beautiful photos. Finally, it helps us be more
convenient in our work. Thereby, smartphones have great
functions and help us a lot in life.

7. Why do people use the Internet?

The more modern society is, the more people use the internet.
Firstly, the Internet helps people be more convenient in
their lives. The Internet makes it possible to quickly find
information and communicate with other people around the
world. Secondly, the Internet can manage your finances and help
us deal with problems easier. Moreover, the internet makes us
entertain ourselves by listening to music, watching films, or
reading books. Finally, the internet can make us shop online, so
we don’t go out to buy.

My purpose for learning English, first of all, is to get a
good job. Besides, learning English helps the brain
develop better. As society develops, English becomes
more and more important, so I am determined to learn it.
Another reason I am learning English is that I can watch
films without subtitles and communicate with people in
many countries. If I speak well English, I can travel around
the world. Moreover, learning English develop myself as
well as at work

I have a lot of plans for the future. It is divided into two types:
short-term plan and long-term plan. Short-term plans are usually
set by month and by date. Every month I make a study plan to
get high scores in exams. Long-term plans will be set annually.
My personal development plan is divided into 3 parts. Health,
knowledge and work. In my health plan, I will set exercise time
goals, plan for proper eating and time, and sleep. In the
knowledge plan, I will list the books to read and aim to accomplish
them. Finally the work part, I will develop myself and find a
suitable job. Every day I live with the plans I set out. A life of
purpose keeps me on track for a better future.

10. Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of living in the

big city.

Living in a big city has many advantages as well as
disadvantages. Firstly, we have more employment and job
opportunities. If we live in the city, we will have many chances to
get high-paying jobs. Secondly, we will have many different ways
to spend our free time. There are a lot of theaters, concerts, and
other kinds of entertainment. There is always a lot to do and visit.
Moreover, living in a big city helps us have a higher living
standard, and our children have a better school. Besides
advantages, living in the city brings us a lot of disadvantages. The
higher cost of living is the first disadvantage that people typically
think of when considering moving to a city. We don’t have quiet
space because a big city has many means of transport. Aside
from that, living in a big city has a high crime rate.
