ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
It was not you who chose me, says the Lord but I who chose you and appointed you to go out and bear
fruit, fruit that will last
COLLECT
Holy Father, who, by no merit of my own, chose me for communion with the eternal priesthood of your
Christ and for the ministry of your Church, grant that I may be an ardent yet gentle preacher of the Gospel
and a faithful steward of your mysteries. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns
with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
FIRST READING
A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah (61:1-3)
The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; He has sent me to bring good
news to the afflicted, to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, release to the
prisoners, To announce a year of favor from the Lord and a day of vindication by our God; To comfort all
who mourn; to place on those who mourn in Zion a diadem instead of ashes, To give them oil of gladness
instead of mourning, a glorious mantle instead of a faint spirit. Restoration and Blessing They will be called
oaks of justice, the planting of the Lord to show his glory.
V The word of the Lord
R: Thanks be to God
RESPONSORIAL PSALM
(Ps. 96:1-2,2-3,10)
Response: Go out to the world and teach all nations.
1. Sing to the Lord a new song, sing to the Lord all you lands, sing to the Lord, bless His name. R.
2. Announce His salvation day after day. Tell His glory among the nations. Among all people, His
wondrous deeds. R.
3. Say among the nations: The Lord is King. He has made the world firm, not to be moved, He governs
the people with equity. R.
SECOND READING
A reading from the second letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians (4:1-2, 5-7)
Therefore, since we have this ministry through the mercy shown us, we are not discouraged. Rather, we
have renounced shameful, hidden things; not acting deceitfully or falsifying the word of God, but by the
open declaration of the truth we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God. For
we do not preach ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for the sake of Jesus.
For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to bring to light the knowledge
of the glory of God on the face of Jesus Christ. But we hold this treasure* in earthen vessels, that the
surpassing power may be of God and not from us.
V: The word of the Lord
R: Thanks be to God
Alleluia Alleluia,
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for revealing the mysteries of the kingdom to mere
children. Alleluia!
GOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Matthew 11:25-30
I am gentle and humble in heart.
Jesus exclaimed, "1 bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned
and the clever and revealing them to mere children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do.
Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, just as
no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. "Come to me,
all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my
burden light."
V. This is the Gospel of the Lord.
R. Praise be to Our Lord Jesus Christ.
PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS
We offer you the sacrifice of praise, O Lord, for the deepening of our service of you, so that what you have
conferred on us, unworthy as we are, you may graciously bring to fulfilment. Through Christ our Lord.
Communion Antiphon
The chalice of blessing that we bless is a communion in the Blood of Christ; and the bread that we break
is a sharing in the Body of the Lord.
Prayer after Communion
For the Glory of your name, O Lord, I have Joyfully celebrated the mystery of faith to mark the anniversary
of my priestly ordination, so that I may be in truth what I have handled mystically in this sacrifice. Through
Christ our Lord.
