Indonesia has a vision of "Indonesia Emas 2045, a goal that has been
long-promoted in the pursuit of a developed Indonesia. However, the
feasibility of realizing this vision is almost zero. The goal is starkly
contrasted with the reality in Indonesia, which still has many
significant and structural problems. In addition, there are no
government policies that are effective or efficient enough to address
these issues in time to meet the 2045 goal. On the societal side, there
are still many people who are not aware of these issues and how
difficult it will be to achieve the vision.

To overcome this problem, TEDxITB 8.0 will be a major breakthrough

in overcoming structural problems in Indonesia. The 8th series of
TEDxITB is back with a big theme, "PUZZLE: THE STRUGGLE OF
TOMORROW", which symbolizes the puzzle as the missing pieces-
critical issues that must be identified and solved to complete the
bigger picture of a prosperous and developed Indonesia.

Are you ready to take a big step to help solve these big problems
that exist to avoid the struggle of tomorrow? This is the place for you
and we are waiting for your existence here!

Indonesia's journey toward achieving the vision of a "Golden
Indonesia 2045" is fraught with challenges. These challenges, like
missing pieces of a puzzle, create a complex network of issues that
hinder the nation's development. The grand theme, Puzzle,
symbolizes these missing pieces—critical problems that must be
identified and solved to complete the bigger picture of a prosperous
and developed Indonesia.

Each puzzle piece represents a struggle. From economy, literacy,

healthcare, youth empowerment, culture and society, to the blue-
collar workforce. Realizing the dream of “Indonesia Emas 2045”, we
must come together to find these missing pieces and piece together
the solutions. This theme invites us to delve into the complexities of
Indonesia's future by understanding the struggles and uncovering
the solutions to build a brighter tomorrow.

This 8.0 series of TEDxITB aims not just to be a half-day event

consisting of great talks from various speakers and great
performances. It invites us to delve into the complexities of
Indonesia's future by understanding the struggles and uncovering
the solutions to build a brighter tomorrow.

Magazine is a medium to package information related to the theme
of TEDxITB 8.0. The content will cover 6 (six) main topics, namely
literacy crisis, health accessibility, young generation, society and
culture, and agricultural issues in Indonesia. The magazine will be
regularly uploaded on the TEDxITB centralized website from
December 2024. In line with the theme of TEDXITB 8.0, The Struggles
of Tomorrow with the main question: "Can we turn Indonesia's dream
into reality?", the magazine will cover many topics on the theme of
Indonesia Emas 2025 coupled with entertainment content. In
addition, the magazine will also be made available in physical form
for participants on the day of the event.

The TEDxITB 8.0 campaign aims to raise awareness of the main event
of TEDxITB 8.0 among ITB students and the wider community. The
campaign features an interactive "treasure hunt" concept by placing
TEDx signature elements at various locations around the ITB
Ganesha Campus. These elements can be in the form of
collaborative props that students can decorate or contribute their
ideas to, or a treasure hunt of puzzle pieces or other TEDx elements to
be found. Those who manage to find these items can share their
experience through the "Add Yours" feature on Instagram, which also
provides an opportunity to interact more closely with the TEDx
community. With this twist, TEDxITB hopes to create deeper public
engagement while building excitement for the TEDxITB 8.0 main
event.

At this year's TEDxITB event, we proudly present "Puzzle: The Struggle

of Tomorrow," This event serves as a hub, a central point where ideas
meet action and where individuals come together to learn, share,
and collaborate. Our speakers will inspire, inform, and motivate with
their remarkable stories and groundbreaking concepts. In our TEDx
Talks series, we explore six key subthemes:

Recently, literacy has become a crisis that is frequently highlighted

by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology as a
key factor in improving Indonesia’s educational standards. It is very
concerning knowing the fact that about 1 out of 1000 Indonesian
citizens are interested in reading. Why is this important? Literacy is
fundamental for civilized society because it opens doors to countless
insights and innovative ideas. Moreover, promoting a literacy culture
is essential to raise educational standards because it enhances the
ability to think critically in making decisions.

17
Economic stability and growth are critical to improving living
standards, creating jobs, and increasing overall prosperity in
Indonesia. A strong economy supports the development of
infrastructure, education and health. On the other hand, there are a
number of underlying issues. Rapid technological change and global
competition are affecting job security and the nature of work.
Indonesia's dependence on imported goods affects economic
independence and resilience. This theme aims to expose the
weaknesses in the backbone of Indonesia's progress, and we would
like to invite participants to think about the best possible solutions.

Young generations are a crucial component in playing a pivotal role

to shape the nation's future. They have the potential to preserve
culture, contribute to the development of society development,
improve the quality of education, increase national integration, and
act as agents of community empowerment. However, young
generations faced many significant challenges. The major
challenges plaguing them are mental health issues, excessive
reliance on technology, and tendency towards aimless and
unmotivated ethics commonly occurring in society. This topic aims
to inspire young generations realizing their burdens and
responsibilities for the nation’s future.

Main Event

Culture and society shape Indonesia's identity as a nation. This issue

is crucial to explore how traditional values co-exist with modern
challenges in a rapidly changing world. Nowadays, there are several
challenges we face. Tensions between maintaining cultural identity
and the pressures of globalization often overshadow traditional
values. The rapid pace of digitalization is reshaping how we connect,
labor, and learn. Rapid urbanization is jeopardizing cultural
preservation, as traditional ways of life and spaces are being pushed
aside by modern development. The preservation of Indonesia's rich
cultural heritage relies on our ability to navigate the interplay
between digitalization and urbanization. Hence, this challenging
issue addresed to increase public appreciation for Indonesia's
culture.

In Indonesia, the agricultural sector plays a very important role in

economic development and food security. This sector includes all
activities related to agriculture, plantations, livestock, fisheries and
forestry. With abundant natural resources, Indonesia has great
potential in the agricultural sector. However, farmers and fishermen
struggle to sell their products at a profitable price that discourages
their efforts. In addition, agricultural land quality has been declining
for a long time, which affects the quality of agricultural products.
Lack of technology adoption is also a major factor in the stagnation
of the agricultural industry in Indonesia. This topic seeks to highlight
the hidden challenges of the agricultural sector.

19
13
A strong health system is crucial to ensure society’s well-being,
reduce the burden of disease, and improve quality of life. It also
affects economic productivity and social stability. Unfortunately, we
are nowhere near achieving our goals. Disparities in access to health
care between urban and rural areas are one of the main problems.
There is also insufficient public and private investment in health
infrastructure and services. These problems lead to inequalities in
access and outcomes among different socio-economic groups. This
theme aims to highlight the critical health care issues threatening
Indonesia's future

Our Speakers To-Be: Dian Sastrowardoyo (Actress, Model, Producer),

Maudy Ayunda (Actress, Entrepreneur, Educator), Sri Mulyani
(Minister of Finance Indonesia), Raja Juli Antoni (Minister of Forestry
Indonesia), Budi Gunadi Sadikin (Minister of Health Indonesia), Putri
Tanjung (Entrepreneur and Presidential Special Staff), Gita Wirjawan
(entrepreneur, investor, musician, producer, politician).

The lounge is a casual area for attendees to meet, discuss, and
share ideas with other attendees. The lounge is designed to create a
comfortable atmosphere and encourage discussion among
attendees. With this lounge, TEDxITB 8.0 gave participants the
opportunity to expand their network, gain new perspectives, and
make connections that could lead to real collaborations in the
future.

Group Discussion allows participants to collaborate and work

together to solve a case relevant to the theme of "The Struggles of
Tomorrow". In this session, participants will be divided into small
groups and given a case or issue related to Indonesia's challenges in
2045. Participants are expected to discuss, formulate solutions and
present their views on the issue. This session aims to develop critical
thinking and teamwork skills, as well as inspire them to take concrete
steps for the future of Indonesia.

To conclude the main event, TEDxITB 8.0 will feature a musical drama
performance packed with stories that highlight the values of
nationalism, ideals, and the struggle to achieve Golden Indonesia
2045. The musical drama will combine elements of dance, music,
and theater to convey inspiring messages of determination and
hope for Indonesia's future. This performance is expected to be a
moment that will leave a deep impression on all participants and
provide a meaningful conclusion to TEDxITB 8.0.
