by the members of public and by Corporate Customers. Speed Post, the market
leader in the domestic express industry, was started by Department of Posts in
August 1986 for providing time-bound and express delivery of letters, documents and
parcels across the nation and around the world.
Speed Post provides customized solutions to cater to the needs of
members of public. Speed Post International service is also backed by Universal
Postal Union EMS Speed Post offers economical and faster service to almost all
foreign countries. The brief of the service is as follows:

• Quality and Credibility: - India’s Comptroller and Auditor General

(CAG) report, tabled in Parliament has said that the Department of Posts’ Speed Post
service is “better than the service provided by private courier services”.
• Kashmir to Kanyakumari - Kutch to Kohima (Pan India Network):-

affordable service and we deliver across the country @ INR 35.00 for

 • Volume discount: -Attractive volume based discount is available
for bulk customers and corporate customers. Details are as under:-

•Cash on Delivery:-

In order to meet the requirement of bulk customers for collection of

amount for costlier goods, Cash on Delivery facility is available for e commerce and
online sellers. The facility provides collection of amount up to Rs. 50,000/- at the
time of delivery of consignments.
• Amount recovered from addressee on delivery of such article by post is remitted to
the sender electronically.
• Fast, Safe and economical solution for collection of amount of goods at the time of
its delivery and its remittance to sender.
In addition to postage, the senders who wish to avail the facility of Cash on Delivery
article shall be required to pay the following additional fee on delivery of such postal

• Book Now Pay Later (BNPL Scheme):-
Bulk customer is eligible for credit facility provided he enters in to an
agreement with the Department. Bulk customer is defined as anyone who provides
Rs. 10,000 worth of speed post business in a calendar month at a Speed Post
booking office. The bulk customer will have to enter into an agreement with the
Department.

2) Business Parcel-

Business Parcel is a premium service to suit the requirements of

business customers for an economical and reliable distribution solution. In this
service we are providing express and time-bound delivery of parcels weighing up
to 35 kg within India. The brief of the service is as follows:

• Internet-based Track and Trace system: - Online track and trace

service to track your consignments from booking to delivery

• Doorstep delivery: - Business Parcel consignments are delivered at the

doorsteps of the customers.

• Free Pick up: - Bulk Customers are provided free pick-up facility from
their premises.

• Volume discount: - Attractive volume based discount is available

for bulk customers and corporate customers. Details are as under:-

3) International Mails-

International speed post and International air parcel provide economical

and fast merchandise services and International speed post and International Air
Parcel can be booked in all the Departmental Post offices across the country. The
general maximum weight for International Speed Post (EMS) and Air Parcel is
20 to 35kg (As per weight limit prescribed by the destination country). The brief
of the services is as follows:

• Global Coverage: - Excellent delivery network in different parts of the

world (including remote regions).

• Internet-based Track and Trace system: - Online track and trace

service to track your consignments from booking to delivery.

• Compensation policy for International Mails:-

1) For loss / total theft / total damage – Up to 40 SDR* per parcel plus 4.50
SDR* per kg or the value of contents, whichever is less, subject to an upper ceiling
of 130SDR* plus the postage paid.

2) For loss or total damage or total theft of International EMS Merchandise

– Value of contents or 130 SDR, whichever is less, plus the postage paid.

3) For loss or damage of International EMS Document -Postage paid.

• Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra (DNK):- The purpose of Dak Ghar Niryat
Kendra (DNK) is to support the export promotion policy of the Government of India,
where the Department of Posts is playing a major role in its success. Accordingly, in
Pune Region, Pune Head Post office (Sadhu Vaswani chowk), Satara Head Post office
and Solapur head post office is identified as Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra. We are
promoting the export through post offices which will help to boost Indian economy.
Our DNK is equipped with electronic custom clearance software. Now online custom
clearance will be obtained in seconds which took 5-7 days in the past, thus directly
reducing the delivery time of foreign parcels/Speed post. In case, Customs has any
query like requirement of additional document/information, a notification will be
sent by the customs through portal. Customer may reply to Customs through the
customer’s portal. Exporters can now send their consignment hassle free to foreign
countries through DNK.

• Enquiry about International articles:- In case a customer desires to

enquire about his/her International EMS article, enquiry may be raised without any
charge or fee.

• Free Pick up: - Bulk Customers are provided with free pick-up facility
from their premises.

4) Registered Post-
To provide secure transmission of customer’s articles a record is kept at
all stages the article passes through. Also the registered articles are transmitted,
under special precautions and it is Addressee specific (i.e. only the addressee is
allowed to take the delivery of the article). However a person can authorize some other
person on his/her behalf to receive the registered letters.

• Tariff Structure of Registered Post

•One India One Rate: - Registered Post is an affordable service and we

deliver across the country @ INR 25.00 (With GST) for consignments up to 20 grams.
For Additional 20 grams or part thereof our charges are only 5/-Rs.
 5) Business Post-
Business Post provides complete mailing solutions right from mail
preparation to mail delivery, ideal for small businesses as well as large companies.

Customers can choose from a range of cost-effective and professional

mailing services, including collection of mail (Unregistered, Registered and Speed
Post) from customer premises, franking, inserting, sealing and addressing etc. to
meet their specific business needs.

India Post has set up Business Post Centers in major cities specially to
handle Business Post Consignments. Business Post services can also be set up in the
customer’s premises where the mail volumes are very large. Business Post offers a
