Statement of Purpose
My father once told me that “People might forget what you said but they would
never forget how you made them feel.” I’ve grown up by keeping this principle
in my mind. Since my childhood, I’ve seen my father hosting people from
different backgrounds and communities, giving them the best hospitality possible.
I come from a family with a background in hospitality business which arose my
passion in the same as well. I have always looked upto my father who taught me
that hospitality begins at home.
In class 7 I took admission in YPS, Mohali and had move away from home to
start this new chapter of living in a boarding school. The level of exposure I got
here was a lot more than my previous school. Along with studies, I used to take
part in a lot of extra curricular and sports activities. I used to be a familiar face,
participating in debates, MUNs and quizzes. I used to be an enthusiastic
badminton player and played at the state level several times. I was also a part of
my school’s cricket team. Apart from this, I was a member of the core organising
committee of Military Literature Festival held at Chandigarh. This experience
gave me the opportunity to be a host to a large number of people for the first time
in my life.
After my schooling, I joined NMIMS, Bangalore for my undergraduate B.Com
(Hons.) degree. I was a part of the sports committee of the college and organised
various events with the team. The three years of college seemed to be gone away
in a fast forward manner but I will remember these years as one of the best
experiences and learning opportunities that I have had. I not only gained
theoretical knowledge but also practical knowledge.
I had the opportunity to do summer internships twice during my undergraduate
course. In June’22 I was hired as a trainee in the sales and marketing department
of Asees Feed, Moga. It was overall a great learning experience as I was given
freedom to interact with potential customers and attract them. In May’23 I was
hired as an intern in sales and marketing department at Paras Spices, Moga. I
attended a number of exhibitions and also promoted the advertisement campaign
the brand had recently started. The internships helped me gain a lot of practical
knowledge which also influenced my perspective for my future.
Once I complete my masters degree in hospitality, I will be willing to take a job
as a starting step in my career. I would aspire to get daily insights through my
work which will be beneficial to me in my long term goals. Once I think I am
ready, I’d expand my family business to the levels I have always dreamed of. I
hope to be successful in this field and be an inspiration for others one day.
The major factor for choosing SP Jain School of Global Management and Glion
Institute of Higher Education is their reputation and the exposure they provide on
a global level. Also, as soon as I came across the course of Masters of Science in
Hospitality Business Leadership, I thought that this would be the perfect fit for
me. I see this course as a great step forward for my future ambitions.
As a student I will be bringing my own unique experiences, thoughts and
perspectives to the vibrant academic community at your institution. The chance
of working in this stream on a global level excites and motivates me to achieve
excellence and add more esteem to the already reputed name of your institute. I
am confident that I will be a bright student at your institute as hospitality is
something that runs in my blood and something that I have always been
passionate about. I am eager to pursue my masters at your institute and be a part
of this challenging yet rewarding journey. Thank you for considering my
application, looking forward to joining your university.
