BUSINESS
OBJECTIVES:
1. To provide the students, with an opportunity to gain the knowledge in the field of
entrepreneur, entrepreneurship and management of resources.
2. To learn the function, types, role of entrepreneur in economic growth of a country. And
also studies the different stages of entrepreneurial process.
3. To gain the knowledge to start up small scale industries with the support (consultancy &
finance) from government, institutes & others.
4. To impart motivation studies and training.
5. To study its need and source of finance related to entrepreneurships.

PRE-REQUISITES: Knowledge of Principle of Management and Business Concepts is

Entrepreneur - Types of Entrepreneurs - Difference between Entrepreneur and Intrapreneur -
Entrepreneurship in Economic Growth, Factors Affecting Entrepreneurical Growth.
UNIT II MOTIVATION 9
Major Motives Influencing an Entrepreneur - Achievement Motivation Training, self Rating,
Business Game, Thematic Apperception Test - Stress management, Entrepreneurship
Development Programs - Need, Objectives.
UNIT III BUSINESS 9
Small Enterprises - Definition, Classification - Characteristics, Ownership Structures - Project
Formulation - Steps involved in setting up a Business - identifying, selecting a Good Business
opportunity, Market Survey and Research, Techno Economic Feasibility Assessment - Preparation
of Preliminary Project Reports - Project Appraisal - Sources of Information - Classification of
Needs and Agencies.
UNIT IV FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING 9
Need - Sources of Finance, Term Loans, Capital Structure, Financial Institution, management of
working Capital, Costing, Break Even Analysis, Network Analysis Techniques of PERT/CPM -
Taxation - Income Tax, Excise Duty - Sales Tax.
UNIT V SUPPORT TO ENTREPRENEURS 9
Sickness in small Business - Concept, Magnitude, causes and consequences, Corrective
Measures - Government Policy for Small Scale Enterprises - Growth Strategies in small industry
- Expansion, Diversification, Joint Venture, Merger and Sub Contracting.

COURSE OUTCOMES:
 The students will understand the necessity of management in the field of engineering and
it realizes the importance of entrepreneurship in the modern world.
 The students will have an ability to define, characteristics and role of SSI in economic
Development. Impact of privatization and globalization on SSIs and understand the
meaning of project and project identification.
 The students are well trained to analyze the parameters of project like project appraisal,
identification of business Opportunities, market feasibility study, technical feasibility
study etc.
 The students will be able to understand the motivation techniques and the financial
analysis in entrepreneurships.
 Students will understand the concept of management as a science, art and profession and
appreciate the role of planning in management.
