- The start of the VU programme and 4TU is in line with the start of the regular UT programme
- The starting points of the calendar are revised for the 3rd and 4th quartile because of an imbalance in effective teaching days.
The confirmed 4TU approach for the framework of the academic calendar is that the first 3 quarters consist of 10 weeks of educational planning. Normally, an
additional lecture week is scheduled for the fourth quarter to compensate for a large number of official public holidays in this quarter.
However, in 2023-2024 a number of public holidays fall on a weekend. Which results in an imbalance in effective teaching days in the 3rd and 4th quarter. As
shown below for 2023-2024.

For the academic calendar of 2023-2024 we are switching the additional lecture week to the 3rd quarter to have a better balance of available teaching days.

For the academic year of 2024-2025, we advise maintaining the regular pace of 3x10 weeks and 1x 11 weeks because of a balanced distribution of teaching
