Installation Guide

Integrator (provisional)
Introduction
Integrator provides a configurable link between an Ethernet network and intelligent devices. It contains ObServer with
several configurable interfaces for connected systems and a Web server. This document will cover the stages needed for
correctly installing Integrator and should be read in full to avoid any damage during installation.
The Integrator, like all electronic devices, should be handled carefully to prevent damage.

Technical Data
Power rating 12VDC ±10% 5A regulated (20 W) - supplied
Mounting 4 x 5mm holes, suitable for M5 bolts.
Ethernet connector RJ45 1000/100/10 BASE-T
Device connector RS232 9-way D-type (DTE) and 3 x USB suitable for serial adapters
Dimensions 330 x 210 x 75 mm (WxHxD)

Check Before Installation

1. IMPORTANT: The Integrator requires a 12VDC 5A power supply (supplied). Connecting the power incorrectly
or connecting an inappropriate power supply will damage the board or seriously affect its reliability. Never
power-down Integrator by removing the power connector.

2. Check that the location where Integrator is to be installed is free from electrical noise and vibration, and is a
relatively dry environment. Excessive noise can have a detrimental effect on Integrator and power supplies.

Installing the Integrator
Step 1 – Mounting of the Integrator
Carefully remove the Integrator, USB security device (dongle) and power supply from their packaging.
If mounting Integrator directly on to a wall or panel, use the chassis as a template to mark and drill four holes. Screw the
Integrator securely to the even surface using the mounting holes.
Leave a clearance of at least 90mm at the cable and power connection edges of Integrator.

Step 2 – Connect to the Ethernet Network

Attach the Integrator to a 1000/100/10Base-T compatible Ethernet network switch or hub using a CAT-5 cable with RJ45
connector.

Step 3 – Connect Security Device

Connect the blue USB security device (dongle) to the USB port indicated above (below the RJ45 connector).

Step 4 – Apply Power

Connect the power supply to Integrator, using the cable grip to secure in place. Integrator will automatically power-up.
IMPORTANT: Integrator is supplied with a 12VDC 5A power supply. Connecting the power incorrectly or connecting an
inappropriate power supply could damage the board.
DO NOT power-down Integrator by removing the power connector. Always shut-down Integrator by pressing the
power switch.

Step 5 – Connect to the Third Party Devices

Integrator has one RS232 9-way D-type connector and three available USB ports capable of attaching additional serial
ports (see diagram above).
Cables to connect Integrator to the third party system are available from North, order code OBS\CABLE\[system].
CAUTION! Only use USB serial adapters supplied or approved by North Building Technologies (order code
MISC/USB232).

Step 6 – Checking the Installation

When power has been applied to Integrator, the LEDs located on the outside case indicate:
LED Meaning
Green Integrator powered on
Red Solid state drive activity

Step 7 – Engineering Integrator

Integrator should be configured via the Ethernet connector using a Windows Terminal Services or Remote Desktop
client. It is not recommended that a mouse, keyboard or monitor be connected.
Integrator is configured with the following logon:
User: Administrator
Password: integrator
Integrator is configured by default with the following IP address:
IP Address: 192.168.2.210
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
