Engineering Mode
To enter the engineering Mode do the following:
1) Turn the ignition to on (Note : it works with the car started as well)
2) With the radio playing (Note: it works with other things like DVD playing) press :
a. Press and hold these buttons in this order
Mute – Service – End Call all together and hold for 5 secs (ish)
b. Sometimes this doesn’t work, so simply try again, not sure why it doesn’t
always work, maybe its the order I press them in?
You should get the following:
Note : If the key combinations above do not bring you to the engineers menu one of the
following may work on your vehicle:
• MUTE + 3 + 4 +5
• Phone Down + 1 + 3 + 6
• 1+6+4+3
• mute + phone down + serv
• mute + 3 +4 +6
• mute+357

Hidden Menu within engineering mode
To uncover the hidden menu within the engineer mode do the following whilst in the
engineering mode.
1) Whilst in the Engineers menu
2) press and hold down the following keys:
# * left arrow - (the left arrow is the joy-pad one)
You should see extra menu’s appear on the right as below:
The new menu items are:
• Dr.Dist – is Driver Distraction
• RegCod – is region Code
• Backd…- is Backdoor
Note : If the key combinations above do not bring you to the engineers menu one of the
following may work on your vehicle:
• 1 +3 +Arrow on the left
• 1 +3 +9

Driver distraction Menu
This holds the setting for when the screen should go blank/be displayed, you can
improve safety by selecting the correct option
1) Select each one as require and hit OK to toggle on or off
So you now have the option to blank the screen out at 0km or 10km, or only seen
when the handbrake is on!
2) Once finished select ‘Back’
3) Then select ‘end’ on the engineers menu
4) That’s it, this should now work.

Region Code Menu
The Region Code Menu allows you to ‘region free’ your DVD player to play any region
DVD’s

Backdoor Menu
So far these have been the suggested features
• MP3 - allows MP3 playback (Euro spec units have the hardware not sure about other
specs)
• LCT - Low Cost Teleaid - some sort of telemetrics (USA?) for the dealer or MB to
connect to the car via a suitably connected car phone
• HOLLAND MMI - disables the inputting of SAT NAV destinations when the car is
being driven - this is illegal in Holland
• IPS - Don't know this one - someone suggested a navigation option for Korea but I'm
not convinced.

Navigation Hidden Menu
To find the Navigation hidden Menu do the following:
1) Go to the Navigation feature, i.e. press Nav
2) Hold 5 and NAV together for a few seconds.
• Demo Mode
• Fill destination > fills "last destination memory" with examples.. in germany.
• ACLine speller > Brings up the address entry window?
• Task info > Big list of task (just info not selections).
• Version Info > A list of loads of items with sequential numbers to the left
• Gps > info on the gps readings; all results no selection.
• Sensors > Backward: Gal; 0/0 gyro ; -10 magazine 0/0
• Language > List of languages, change this to set speaking language.
• Set metrics > Speaks for itself. km,m or Miles,ft or Miles, yards
• VDR test > ?? test something I don’t know??
• Calibration > Just says current map with a set option.. set just gives me error..
• Map colour > Obvious gives you two extra options for night and day colours
• Default country > get option Canada, Hawaii, US.. this doesn’t change if i change language.
• Flash file status > List of DAT files XXXXX.DAT
• Start nav update > Just flashes, then back to menu???
• Version Info > comprehensive list. you can choose details on some of these and get further info of
version; also a long number at the top superseding no.4?? not selectable.
• test spell match > brings up request param entry bar and send option??
• Most perform test >looks very interesting not had time to play. has Start, MPH, Async, Control. Tried
MPH then it timed out.. maybe because I wasn’t moving??
• RTE CALC starting point > simply says destination on map and option to set.. couldn’t figure it out??
• Intersection zoom > Sounds cool and obvious.. need to try it while moving
