The Human Powerbank
Understanding the
basics of capacity
building.
What comes to your
mind when you hear the
word “powerbank”?
In the normal sense,
A powerbank is portable device that stores electrical
energy and is used to charge other devices, such as
smartphones, tablets, laptops, and more, on the go.
Power banks typically consist of a battery pack,
charging circuits, and one or more USB ports. They
come in various sizes, capacities, and prices.
Just as every power device
has the ability to empower
other gadgets, they can only
do so to the extent of their
capacity.
Therefore, it's essential to
remember that a power bank's
value lies in its ability to
dispense power, and equally
important, it requires a regular
source of power to stay active.
Important things to Note
1. A power bank's value is not determined by its physical attributes, such
as weight or size, but by its ability to provide power and contribute to
the functioning of other devices.
2. A power bank, despite being a source of power for other devices, also
requires regular empowerment itself to maintain its capacity to
dispense power.
Important things to Note
A power bank's impact is directly tied to its capacity.
A standard power bank can charge a limited number of devices, whereas a
high-capacity power bank with an enhanced battery can reach more devices,
charge them multiple times and sustain them for a longer duration.
In essence, the greater the power bank's capacity, the broader its reach and
the more significant its impact.
Question of the
moment: How does
this relate to building
capacity?
The comparison between the human self and a
power bank is a very perfect analogy as it highlights
that one of humanity's greatest purposes is
contribution - a fulfilling act that guarantees capacity
development.
Just as a power bank has a measurable capacity
that can be increased, human capacity can also be
extended or enhanced when we give more power to
others.
It is important to know that man’s
greatest purpose and fulfillment is
rooted in trying to answer life's
biggest question, which is:
'What are you doing for others?'
This is a question that begs our
willingness to ensure that all that
we do in life embodies the word
'contribution. (charge other phones)'
For we are only as useful as the
amount of contribution we've made

performance.
Being a member of a community like this gives you the
responsibility to contribute to yourself and others, just like a
power bank. We can't give what we don't have, and our
contribution is limited by our perceived value.
When thinking about capacity building, remember that a
power bank needs constant refilling. Reflect on how you can
refill and grow. I hope you realize why growth and capacity
building are crucial. You won't settle for a lesser power bank
when a better one is available.
