Description
H2S Scavenger P is a powder zinc-based mixture which is used as hydrogen sulfide scavenger for water-based muds. H2S
Scavenger P reduce corrosion of downhole tools and surface equipment in oil-field which is related to H2S gas. H2S Scavenger P
reacts relatively fast and is optimum for removing H2S in shortest time.
Application
Main function of H2S Scavenger P is decreasing the corrosion rate of drilling fluids and brines, reducing H2S scavenger, and
minimize the possibility of drill pipe or casing wear-out. It is recommended to be used in wells as a pre-treatment that are
possible to produce H2S gas. The product of reactions between H2S gas and H2S Scavenger P is inert ZnS sediments. H2S
Scavenger P is compatible with different types of drilling and workover fluids.
Advantages Limitations
• Compatible with different types of drilling fluids • It is recommended to be used in fluids with pH
and oil-field brines (monovalent and divalent ions) range of 11.5 to 12.5.
• Effective in different salinities • In fluids with high pH (>11.5), excessive use of H2S
• Fast reactions Scavenger P may cause rheological fluctuations.
• Minimum effect on filtration and rheological • H2S Scavenger P should not be used is drilling fluid
properties of fluids with pH less than 7, as it may cause H2S generation.
• No foam generation in water
Treatment
Dependent to the environment of fluids, treatments may differ from 1 to 3 ppb as a pretreatment or treatment. 3.5 pound per
barrel of H2S Scavenger P can eliminate 500-600 ppm of H2S gas. In drilling, completion or workover fluids, it is recommended,
to use corrosion inhibitors and Oxygen-scavengers alongside with H2S SCAVENGER P. Running pilot tests before adding H2S
Scavenger P is recommended.
