Ans. : Let the number of rows be x
Then the number of columns in x
So, the number of plants is x × x = x2
which is a perfect square.
Let us find out the square root of 1000 by division method.

This shows that 312 < 1000.


Next perfect square number is 322 = 1024.
Hence, the minimum number of plants he needs more for this = 1024 – 1000 = 24.

40° + z + x = 180° [ Angle Sum Property]

28. In the below figure both RISK and CLUE are parallelograms. Find the values of x.

Ans. : Risk is a parallelogram

Also, ∠ RIS + ∠ ISK = 180°

⇒ ∠ ISK = 180°– 120°

Now, the pie chat representing the given data can be constructed by following the steps
below: Step 1: Draw circle of an appropriate radius. Step 2: Draw a vertical radius of the
circle drawn in step 1. Step 3: Choose the largest central angle. Here, the largest central
angle is 144°. Draw a sector with the central angle 144° in such a way that one of its radii
coincides with the radius drawn in step 2 and another radius is in its counter clockwise
direction. Step 4: Construct other sectors representing other items in the clockwise
direction in descending order of magnitudes of their central angles. ​Step 5: Shade the
sectors with different colours and label them, as shown as in figure below.​​
