Debate Script
Honorable Moderator,
Respected judges, and fellow opponents. Assalamu
alaikum.
Thank You all for letting me speak in this debate
competition. Today I shall give the
final arguments and extend the views of my fellow
teammates on the topic of
‘Qualification is the only defining factor in setting the
aim of life.’
Honorable moderator,
An aim in life is a goal which is set in one’s childhood to
follow until it is achieved in
adulthood. But if that qualification is needed to set the
aim in life, one must have
some qualifications beforehand. All children learn many
skills while growing up.
So if people just change their aim as they grow up, the
aim will be useless. A ship can’t
change its pathway several times and in a seldom way.
Eventually it would become lost.
A person is the same. One must set a fixed aim and not
check one’s current skills always
to fix it.
Honorable Moderator,
An aim in life is set to work towards to. If one gives up
on ones aim in life seeing ones
qualifications, it is a lost cause. After setting ones aim in
life, we must work towards it.
And one can learn the qualifications and other
necessary skills in the process.
Honorable Moderator,
Qualifications are not only the defining factor in setting
the aim of life. The aim in life
of a person is dependent on many things and not only
qualification. Ones likes and
dislikes, one’s interests and one’s thought are also
deciding factors.
Debate Script Against the Motion: "Qualification is the
only defining factor in setting the aim of life."
[Opening Statement]
Third Speaker: Respected Moderator, Honorable Judges,
fellow debaters, and esteemed audience, I stand before
you today to vehemently oppose the motion that
"Qualification is the only defining factor in setting the
aim of life." While qualifications certainly hold
significance, they should not be considered the sole
determinant in shaping our life's purpose. There are
several other crucial aspects that contribute to our aim
and fulfillment in life. I will present three key arguments
to substantiate our stance.
[Argument 1: Passion and Personal Interest]
Third Speaker: Our passions and personal interests play
a fundamental role in shaping our aims in life. It is not
uncommon to witness individuals pursuing careers or
endeavors they are truly passionate about, even if their
qualifications do not directly align with their chosen
path. Consider artists, musicians, or social
entrepreneurs who may lack formal qualifications in
their fields but possess an immense drive and passion
to make a difference. Their aim in life is not solely
determined by their qualifications, but rather by their
genuine enthusiasm and desire to follow their dreams.
[Supporting Evidence and Examples]
Third Speaker: Take, for instance, Steve Jobs, the co-
founder of Apple Inc. He dropped out of college, but his
passion for technology and innovation led him to
revolutionize the world of computing. His aim was not
solely defined by his qualifications, but rather by his
determination to change the way people interact with
technology.
[Argument 2: Life Experiences and Circumstances]
Third Speaker: Life experiences and circumstances have
a significant impact on our aim in life. There are
individuals who face adversity and overcome
challenges, which molds their aspirations and motivates
them to work towards specific goals. Qualifications
alone cannot encapsulate the richness of experiences
that shape our outlook and aims. Our personal
encounters, cultural background, and exposure to
different environments contribute to our ambitions and
define the aims we set for ourselves.
[Supporting Evidence and Examples]
Third Speaker: Consider Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani
activist for female education. Her aim in life was not
solely determined by her qualifications, but by the life-
altering experience of surviving an assassination
attempt and her determination to fight for girls'
education worldwide. Her qualifications may not have
been the defining factor, but her personal journey and
the circumstances she faced drove her to make a
significant impact on society.
[Argument 3: Changing Goals and Evolving Priorities]
Third Speaker: Goals and priorities change as we grow
and evolve as individuals. It is natural for our aims in life
to shift based on new experiences, acquired knowledge,
and personal growth. Qualifications, although
important, should not restrict us from exploring new
avenues or redefining our aims. Our aspirations are
influenced by our changing perspectives, and we should
embrace the freedom to adapt our goals accordingly.
[Supporting Evidence and Examples]
Third Speaker: Numerous successful individuals have
transitioned from one career path to another,
demonstrating that qualifications do not have to confine
our aspirations. For instance, J.K. Rowling, the author of
the Harry Potter series, initially pursued a degree in
French and Classics. However, her aim in life evolved,
and she followed her passion for writing, ultimately
achieving remarkable success.
[Closing Statement]
Third Speaker: In conclusion, qualifications should not
be regarded as the sole defining factor in setting the
aim of life. Our passions, life experiences, and evolving
priorities contribute significantly to the aims we set for
ourselves. While qualifications hold value, they should
not limit our potential or stifle our pursuit of personal
fulfillment. Let us embrace the multifaceted nature of
human aspirations and recognize that there are diverse
pathways to a meaningful and purposeful life. Thank
you.
