Accounting is mainly used in businesses and companies. It is a process done by
accountants of the company. It contains the financial statements and transactions that has
occurred in the company. Nowadays, many people use technology for their works to be
easier and to gather more data accurately. Many accountants of a business use technology in
order to compute and record the data or transactions explicitly. Accountant’s technological
skills should be up to date in order for them to keep up to the advancements of technologies.
The use of software programs can greatly benefit the employee because of the fact that a
specific software program is built for that accountants. In accordance to Jamie Hoelscher and
Amanda Mortimer (2018), the utilization of data visualizing software, also known as Tableau
(an example of a software program), can assist the accountant to comprehend the data more
effectively and how it may turn into more advanced knowledge that can help improve a
person’s decision-making process. Using software programs in accounting can make the
recorded transactions reliable and appropriate for quick decision making.
The researcher decided to study this topic for it is relevant to the career the researcher
is pursuing. With this topic the researcher will be able to gain preliminary knowledge
regarding how software can change and affect the accounting world. This topic also captured
the interest of the researcher because it caused the researcher to formulate questions that she
wants know the answer of. Some of the questions the researcher had in mind was, what will
happen to the accounting firm if software programs do not exist? Another question is that
how does software programs benefit the accountants and does it have disadvantages? These
questions are formulated by the researcher’s curiosity that the researcher wants to be
answered.
Using software programs is essential to accountants for them to be able to manage
their time precisely. By using software programs, they will be able to do their work faster
than when doing it manually, this will be much more efficient to all employees or
bookkeepers because it can lessen the time they consume and it can make their work faster
but with accuracy and the calculation to be made will not end up as a mistake.
