1 Rules for ARTISTIC (SOLO) YOGASANA:
These rules are adapted from the Yoga Federation of India.
1. Separate competition will be held for male and female competitors.
2. One competitor will be allowed to participate in the competition from each team.
3. Artistic (Solo) Yogasana competition consists of presentation of various asanas (postures)
forward bending, backward bending, hand balancing, leg balancing and twisting, per-
formed with music.
4. It is synchronization of body movement with music (without break).
5. Number of postures performed will be 8-10 of competitor’s choice.
6. Time duration for the presentation will be 150 to 180 seconds (2½ to 3 minutes).
7. The competitor will maintain each posture for atleast 5 seconds during the performance.
8. The transition from one posture to another posture should be slow & artistic.
2 Rules for RHYTHMIC YOGASANA PAIR:
These rules are adapted from the Yoga Federation of India.
1. Rhythmic Yogasana Pair will be held for male and female separately.
2. One entry of pair will be allowed to participate from each team.
3. Rhythmic Yogasana is also known as pair Yogasana. Rhythmic Yogasana Sports is the
presentation of various asanas (postures) i.e. forward bending, backward bending, hand
balancing, leg balancing and twisting performed with music.
4. The same posture will be performed by the pair together.
5. There should not be any body touch between the two competitors.
6. There should be perfect synchronization of body movements with the music.
7. Number of postures performed should be 08-10 of competitor’s choice.
8. Time duration for the presentation will be 150 to 180 seconds (2½ to 3 minutes).
9. The competitor will maintain each posture for atleast 5 seconds during the performance.
10. The transition from one posture to another should be slow, rhythmic and synchronized.

3 General Rules
1. A competitor can participate in both events i.e. Artistic (Solo) and Rhythmic Yogasana
Pair
2. Time: For starting performer should wait in standing pose but not in posture. Music will
start then performer will start movement or posture. Counting of timing will starts when
the music starts. For ending-counting of time will stop when the performer first join
palms together for a bao or bend down for a bao, returning should not be counted.
3. Preference will be given to the melodious, devotional and classical music.
4. Competitor will strict their performance within the marked arena.
Floor Area for Artistic (Solo): 8*8 meter
Floor Area for Rhythmic Yogasana Pair: 10*10 meter
Half mark will be deducted every time (from the marks of transition) if the competitor/s
cross or touch the arena line during their performance.
5. The competitor/(s) have to stay atleast for 5 Seconds in each Portion. Therefore if the
competitor/(s) do not abide by the said rule for particular Posture, in that case that Pos-
ture Formation will deemed to be cancelled and accordingly the number of postures &
difficulty level will be counted by the panel of judges.
4 Judgment criteria for judging Artistic Yogasana and Rhyth-
mic Yogasana
Referees will award out of 30 marks to each competitor / pair / competitors in Artistic Yogasana
and Rhythmic Yogasana The division of 30 marks will be as follow:-

4.1 Time Duration (2 ½ Marks):
If the competitor/s take/s for Artistic and Rhythmic Yogasana competitions Time duration 150
to 180 seconds
1. 150-160 seconds – 0.5 mark
2. 161 - 165 seconds – 1 mark
3. 166- 170 seconds – 1.5 marks

4. 171 - 175 seconds – 2 marks
5. 176 - 180 seconds – 2.5 marks
6. Below 150 seconds and above 180 seconds 0 (Zero) marks.
4.2 Number of Asanas (2.5 Marks) :
If the competitor/s perform/s
1. 8 asanas – 1.5 marks
2. 9 asanas – 2 marks
3. 10 asanas – 2.5 marks
4. Below 8 and above 10 asanas 0 (zero) marks will be awarded.
4.3 Type of Asanas - (2.5 Marks)
1. Forward bending
2. Backward bending
3. Hands balancing
4. One leg balancing
5. Twisting
The referee will see whether the competitor/s perform/s various type of Asanas i.e. forward
bend, backward bend, hand balance, leg balance and twisting including pyramid making, per-
formed with music and accordingly the marks out of 2.5 has to be awarded.
1. All type of asanas – 2.5 marks
2. Four type of asanas – 2 marks
3. Three type of asanas – 1.5 marks
4. Two type of asanas – 1 mark
5. One type of asanas – 0.5 mark
4.4 Difficulty level of Asanas (10 Marks):
Based on the Yogasana charts(refer at the end) in which the difficulty level is mentioned.

4.5 Presentation - (12.5 Marks):
The referees have to see the costume/synchronization/ sequence & transition/grace of the com-
petitor/s, accordingly marks have to be awarded as follow:
1. Synchronization - 5 Marks
2. Costume - 2.5 Marks
3. Sequence & Transition - 2.5 Marks
4. Grace - 2.5 Marks
1. Synchronization: The referees have to see whether the competitor/s is/are synchronized
with the music as well as with each other performance, accordingly marks have to be
awarded.
2. Costume: The referees have to see whether the costume of the competitor/s is according
to the theme of lyrics/music.
3. Sequence & Transition: The transition should be slow & artistic with asana’s sequenced
properly in a rhythm.
Note: 0.5 mark to be deducted out of 2.5 marks of transition every time when the
competitor/s touches or cross the line of arena marked for the performance.
4. Grace: Overall grace in the performance of the competitor/s has to be judged by referees
and marks to be awarded accordingly.
