Notice of Future Obsolete Features
The following features will be obsolete in future releases. In some cases, it may impact other
products or capability sets. We will notify customers before removing these features; however,
you should review the list below and plan for anything that relates to you.
Oracle Database
Support for Oracle database will cease with version v3.3 of Terrain Office.
If you are an existing customer using Oracle, contact MineStar Implementation Specialist for
further assistance.
Note: SQL Server 2019 is the preferred platform
System Updates
This section outlines new and/or improved system update changes for Terrain Office.
OpenJDK
Java SE has been replaced with OpenJDK in order to comply with Oracle's new Java licensing

Fleet Integrated
When integrated, ensure the Machine ID(s) in Terrain Office matches the Machine ID(s)
configured in Fleet Office. This will ensure data in CAT Reports and CAT Editor are
synced properly.
Terrain Office/Drilling Version Upgrade
When upgrading Terrain Office, it is necessary to ensure the correct version of Office is being
utilized in the Hardware Setup screen for all drills. An incorrect version of Office selected or is
being used, errors will occur during productivity file processing and/or file transfers.
When upgrading Terrain for Drilling, ensure the Hardware Setup screen has the correct
version of Office selected during this process. As the above paragraph states, same errors will
result.
For example: Hardware Setup screen shows for Office, under Installed section, that
Terrain_v2.4 is selected but Terrain Server has v3.2 installed, this is a mismatch and will
cause errors. Select the correct version that Terrain Server has installed.
Please reference Compatibility Matrix document.

New and Improved Features
This section outlines the new and improved features in release 3.2.X
SQL Windows Authentication
Terrain Office now supports SQL authentication through a Windows account allowing services
such as Active Directory to adhere to security standards and password policies.

Productivity File Filter
There is now a filter for productivity files, that is defaulted to 180 days or 6 months. Any
productivity file that is processed prior to 180 days from current date or in the future, will not be
reflected in SQL database. Any productivity file that contains records that are older than the
days defined or newer than the current date, will be logged in the reportingDB.log and rejected.
You are able to adjust the days or turn this filter off by going to
catmstarfiles\systems\main\config and open cat2db.settings file.
Cat2db.enable.productivity.filter if set to false will disable this filter.
Cat2db.productivity.filterByDays will adjust how many days/months productivity files will
process into database. This value can be edited from 1 to 1095 days (3 years).
Note: Date is calculated based on the Terrain Office servers current time.
Note: To reprocess productivity files that are outside the filter range, either disable the filter by
changing to false or adjust the filterByDays value as needed. Adjusting Either one of these
settings will require a services restart.
Refer to REHS7327 for more details.

Backing up Data
Note: The install wizard will prompt the user to perform a backup. This backup will capture the
data necessary to perform a rollback if any issue is detected during the upgrade procedure. It
is highly recommended that you perform the steps below in addition to the install wizard
backup.
Before upgrading, ensure that the following backup procedures are performed.
1. Backup the configuration files (*.ini) for selected Cat Tools Software, including Cat
Reports, Cat Editor, Cat Configurator, and Cat 2DB. These files are found in the following
locations.
• Cat Reports - …\Program Files (x86)\catmstar32\CatReports\Cat Reports.ini
• Cat Editor - … \Program Files (x86)\catmstar32\CatEditor\Cat DB Editor.ini
• Cat Configurator - …\Program Files (x86)\catmstar32\CatConfigurator\Cat
Configurator.ini
Note: A consolidated level 1 snapshot will backup the files mentioned above and can be
executed in place of copying individual files. The level 1 snapshot will be placed in the
\\catmstarfiles\systems\main\tmp directory as a zip file.
2. Backup customized timelines (timelines.ini). This file is found in the following location.
• Timelines - …\Program Files (x86)\catmstar32\CatEditor\Timelines.ini
3. Take a full server backup using VM Clone or NAS software. (recommended)
4. Perform a consolidated level 1 snapshot from \\catmstar\snapshot
Uninstalling the Current Version
Note: Communicate the outage to all concerned parties before uninstalling the software. It is
recommended that current design files be sent to each machine so that they may continue
production while the office server is down. Mobile equipment will continue to build productivity
and store progress which will be forwarded to the office server once communication has been
re-established.
Uninstall all components of Terrain Office by clicking Start > All Programs > Cat® MineStar
System™ and Tools > Change Cat® MineStar System™ and Tools Installation. Follow the
prompts to complete uninstallation. Alternatively you can uninstall via the Add or Remove
Programs > Cat MineStar System and Tools > Uninstall
Note: If the \\CATMSTAR directory remains following the server restart, delete it.
DO NOT remove the \\CATMSTARFILES directory as this is the primary data directory.

Potential Automatic Reboot During Installation
During the initial phases of the installation, in some cases, the server may automatically
reboot, without warning.
This is due to the inclusion of ‘bundled’ Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable.
Before this ‘bundled’ version, each year, 2015 – 2019 were individually installed.
If the server is running any 3rd party software which is actively using an indivually installed
VC++ version it will be automatically uninstalled and reinstalled under the ‘bundled’ version.
Depending on the software which is actively using the VC++ software, an automatic reboot
may occur.
If this occurs, allow the reboot to complete and re-run the Terrain Office installer.

Validating the Installation
Log into Terrain Office with a known username and password. The URL for Terrain Office is:
http://[servername or IP]:8080/minestar/home/#/
NOTE: If the original system admin account password was never changed, you will be
forced to enter a strong password.
Restore the files you backed up in steps 1 and 2 of “Backing up the Data” to their original
locations. Where files with identical names were installed with the new version of Terrain
Office, replace them with the original (backed up) files.
It is highly recommended that a server restart is undertaken following successful installation
and start-up of Terrain Office. This should be performed as a matter of course.
The upgrade is complete. Refer to RENR9562 Cat® Terrain Office Software Systems
Operation for information on using Terrain Office.
Rolling Back the Installation
If services fail to start or the user interface is not accessible it may be necessary to roll back. It

before starting the rollback process.
1. Uninstall the current version using the “Change Cat MineStar System and Tools”
