Your Ice Cream Shawl

Size: 6 sizes (see Table 1 below).

Skills: knit, purl, basic lace knowledge, stretchy bind-off.

Materials
 yarn: 364/436/514/606/691/789 yds
(328/392/463/545/622/710 m) of lace, light fingering
or fingering weight yarn (see Table 2 below).
 US5 / 3.75 mm needle;
 4 stitch markers.
Gauge
19 sts x 26 rows in 4” [Link]. relaxed after blocking. Gauge is
not crucial for this project but different gauges give different
finished sizes. Adjust yardage if you knit loosely.

size may vary due to chosen yarn, needle or individual gauge.

Pattern notes:
Only RS rows are written out and charted.
Read the charts from bottom to top and from the right to left.
Pattern repeats are outlined in red, marker placements are shown in blue.
Only the Right half of the shawl with center and edge sts is charted.
Right and Left halves of the shawl are identical (except the center and edge sts).
Center stitch is worked once.
Work RS rows as written out and charted.
Work all WS rows as k2(Ests), purl until 2 sts from end, k2(Ests).

Cast on 3 sts.

Loosely bind off all stitches in WS row: k1, *k1 transfer 2 sts to left hand needle, k2tog through back
loops, repeat from * to end.

Finishing and blocking


Weave in yarn ends; trim after blocking.
Soak shawl in lukewarm water (with soap for fiber if desired) for 10-15 minutes.
Rinse and roll in towel to get rid of excess water. Pin out on clean sheet or blocking board. Let dry and
unpin only when dry.
