Hydraulic Retriever System Overview

The Hydraulic Retriever system is used to insert or remove probes and coupons from pipes under pressure. It uses patented hydraulic operation, which allows for safer operation than traditional mechanical tools as it has no externally moving parts. The system includes a hydraulic cylinder and pump, and can be used on existing access fittings with an adapter. Key benefits include safer operation for workers, compatibility with full line pressure, and reduced risk of damage compared to mechanical systems.

Hydraulic Retriever

DOUBLE ACTING, 420

BAR

(6090

PSI)

System Description
CorrOceans Hydraulic Retriever system is used to insert or remove probes or coupons from access fittings on process system pipes, and can be used under full operational pressure. Its patented hydraulic operation allows higher safety at half the size and weight of traditional mechanical tools. The hydraulic operation means no externally moving parts, making it safer in use than mechanical tools. The Hydraulic Access System has no threads inside the access fitting, the plug is kept in position by locking pins and a heavy duty cover. This feature eliminates thread damage and galling problems (e.g. seized plugs) frequently encountered when using mechanical systems. Can be used on existing, traditional 2" access fitting systems by means of a Hydraulic Access Fitting Adaptor (see data sheet no. 105).

System Benefits
No external moving parts Safer for operators - reduced risk for accidents and injuries Designed for full line pressure Standard version up to 420 bar (6090 psi), versions up to 690 bar (10.000 psi) available No internal threads - no galling, no seized probes or coupons Smaller and lighter - easier to use than conventional mechanical systems Smaller size allows access at more locations More environmentally friendly - less than half the discharge of traditional systems Improved safety in sour service

System Components
The Hydraulic Retriever Kit includes two main components; a Hydraulic Retrieval Cylinder and a hydraulic pump with hoses and other accessories. The Retriever Kit also includes transportation boxes. The Service Valve Kit comes in single or double isolation versions, and must be ordered separately. Both kits are required for a retrieval operation. The kits also include spare seals, tools necessary for operation and maintenance, and transportation cases. Before ordering it is important to determine the maximum length of the probe/holder to be retrieved (see last page). This size decides the length of the Hydraulic Retrieval Cylinder. Part numbers and dimensions for the different retriever kits are found in the technical specification table. Note that single and double isolation valves require different Hydraulic Retrival Cylinders. The main components in the retriever kit may also be ordered separately.

Selecting the Right Equipment

Before ordering, a few simple decisions must be made: Service Valve Options Double Isolation (two ball valves) Single Isolation (one ball valve) Hydraulic Retriever Length Consider maximum length of probe/holder to be serviced Consider clearance above pipe Hydraulic Pump Options Air driven pump (recommended).
(To operate the air pump 85 psi (5,8 bar) air pressure and a minimum of 12 cfm (340 l/min) is required.)

Hand pump (for use when pressurised air is not available) Please specify type when ordering (included in retriever kit). High Pressure System Standard pressure rating is 420 bar (6,000 psi). Contact CorrOcean if 690 bar (10,000 psi) line pressure is desired.
