1. In simple terms, what is faith? list the five overarching definitions of faith
(Please note this question is not asking the definition of
Faith is believing God’s Word.
a. Faith is Simple!

c. Faith is Acting as Though You Have it Even Before You Get it!
d. Faith is Acting in Accordance With What God Has Told Us in His Word.
e. Faith is a Way of Life, Our Lifestyle as God’s Children.
2. Define faith ( Mark allocation 10
A. Faith is Simple!
It is believing God without wavering, without doubting, and without questioning what He
says. It is taking God at His Word and believing what He has promised He is able to
perform. It is believing not only He is able, but that He will do it! It is the quality of
counting those things that be not as though they were (Romans 4:17). Faith is also the
absolute conviction that what God has promised and what we have asked according to His
Word is already done! {Finnis Dake}
Faith is grasping the “unrealities” of hope and bringing them into the realm of reality!

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not
seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
B. Speaking God’s Word!
“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou
removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe
that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he
[Link] I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye
receive them, and ye shall have them.” (Mark 11:23-24).

C. Faith is Acting as Though You Have it Even Before You Get it!
“What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and hath not works?
can faith save him? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a
man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: Shew me thy faith without thy
works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one
God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain
man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:14, 17-20)
[Link] is Acting in Accordance With What God Has Told Us in His Word.
“(As it is written, I have made thee [Abraham] a father of many nations), before him whom
he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as
though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of
many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not
weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred
years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: he staggered not
at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And
being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able to perform.” (Romans 4:17-
21)
E. Faith is a Way of Life, Our Lifestyle as God’s Children.
“ Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his
faith.” (Habakkuk 2:4)

- THEREFORE LEAVING the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto
perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works,
and of faith toward God.,” (Hebrews 6:1)
- Faith is the foundation by which we mature as Christians!
