sup
so, you got into prototype modding? neat
but now you're confused so here i am
after doing several tutorials to people in the hive, i decided to make this silly
txt
lets start
[MODEL SWAPPING]
1. Skip to [2] if you have a folder named "art" inside your game's folder filled
with more folders like "alex", "packages", and whatnot.
YOU WILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD "SCARFACE EXTRACTOR" FIRST TO PROPERLY GET WHAT YOU NEED.
Scarface Extractor:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cyKfwz4t7ZMBAsBf3KDIS5JZa4ZOo3In/view
After you download it, you will need to run "Scarface Extractor.exe"
You will gain a pop-up window with two thingimajibbies (i forgor their names lol)
SELECT A RCF TO EXTRACT - You're gonna tap "..." to make the application bring up a
file explorer tab or something, what you're gonna do here is find your Prototype
1/2 folder and select a file named "art.rcf"
FOLDER TO SAVE EXTRACTED CONTENT - Like earlier, you tap "..." and find your
Prototype 1/2 folder (finding the folder in this part may be confusing but thats
fine), but after you find the folder you just press OK after highlighting/selecting
it
Now press start and wait for it to finish...
If you do it correctly, you should now have a folder named "art" filled with the
necessary folders holding the needed files to mod your game.
2. "i only see squiggly lines, a triangle..." - Heller
Great, you did the first step properly, hooray.
Now, here comes the easier part.
Model Swapping at this point is actually quite simple to do.
But first, let's make a backup of your art folder first, copy and paste it
somewhere outside your Prototype 1/2 folder. Never inside the Prototype 1/2 folder.
Now, what you're gonna need to do is return to your Prototype 1/2 folder and delete
"art.rcf", the game will read it so the mods would not load which means you have to
get rid of it if you want to see your downloaded mod working
To model swap
You simply need to replace the original files with modded files
I will refer to original files as "O.File/s" and modded files as "M.File/s"
Our example M.File will be "alex.p3d"
In this case, we will bring our M.file alex.p3d to the folder "alex" inside your
art folder, what you're gonna do is just paste the modded file in so it replaces
the O.File
Now, for files that have rz in their extensions (Example: name.p3d.rz), you'll just
have to simply delete them and place the M.File in its place
If think you did it correctly, you can now test and see if your mod works!!!
If it doesn't, then A. your mod is broken or you have not put all the necessary
files in their places (sometimes mods needs specific files to be loaded or else the
game will commit die whenever you start it up or you equip powers), or B. you did
something wrong
You can go to the hive and always ask for help if you still have some trouble doing
model swaps
[USING SCRIPTS]
this i wouldnt bother explaining since there are instructions included in most of
the scripts out there, JackHeller's mods has a manual in them so just download one
of his mods and look at the word file provided inside the extracted content
