GUIDELINES FOR MUSDA (MUSIC AND DANCE) COMPETITION
MUSIC
1. SOLO
a. TWO REPRESENTATIVE PER COLOR (1 MALE, 1 FEMALE)
b. Choose a classic OPM song from the 1970s to 1990s that resonates with a compelling melody
and meaningful lyrics.
c. Choose an outfit that suits the mood of the song and era it represents. Ensure that your attire
is presentable and enhances your stage presence.
Criteria for judging
Tonal Quality (Timbre, Pitch) 25%
Mechanics (rhythm, breathing, phrasing, articulation) 25%
Interpretation (Dynamics and Tempo) 25%
Stage Deportment (Stage Prescence) 25%
2. DUET
a. 2 REPRESENTATIVE PER COLOR
FEMALE - FEMALE, MALE - MALE or MALE - FEMALE)
b. Choose a classic OPM song from the 1970s to 1990s that resonates with a compelling melody
and meaningful lyrics.
c. Choose an outfit that suits the mood of the song and era it represents. Ensure that your attire
is presentable and enhances your stage presence.

3. Vocal Instrumental
a. Group of 3-5 members of team color
b. Choose a well-known OPM Band or Tunog Kalye song that resonates with your team and suits the
vocal and instrumental talents of your group. The song should be engaging and energetic.
c. Choose costume that complement the style of the song and the energy of the performance. Make
sure costumes are comfortable and allow freedom movement.
d. Ensure your performance does not exceed the 4-minutes time limit.

DANCE
1. FOLKDANCE
a. Each team should consist of 4-6 members.
b. Acquire a detailed dance literature or guide for the chosen folkdance. This should include the
history, origin, and precise steps and formation of the dance.
c. Costumes and steps must be precise to the literature of the dance.
d. Trainor from outside of the school is strictly prohibited.
2. INTERPRETATIVE DANCE
a. Each team should consist of 4-6 members.
b. Select a clear and concise theme or emotion you want to convey within the 3-minutes performance.
c. Choose costumes that are both decent and conducive to movement. Costumes should complement
the theme without hindering the performer.
d. Trainor from outside of the school is strictly prohibited.
3. BALLROOM DANCE
a. Each team consist of two pairs, typically a lead (usually a male) and follow (usually a female) in each
pair.
b. Select a Latin dance track that is no longer than 1 minute and 30 seconds music in duration.
c. Ensure that the costumes worn by both pairs are decent, appropriate and in line with the chosen
dance style. Costume should enhance the visual appeal of the performance while remaining tasteful
and
respectful.
4. HIPHOP
a. Each team must consist of 6 – 10 members.
b. Choose a mix of song that align with hip-hop style and that do not contain explicit of offensive
lyrics. Ensure that the songs create a cohesive and energetic atmosphere.
c. Choose costumes that are stylish, decent, and appropriate for the hip-hop genre. Make sure
the costumes allow freedom of movement and don’t distract from performance.
d. Ensure that your music mix does not exceed the 3-minute limit. Edit or remix songs as needed to
fit within the allotted time.

5. WELLNESS DANCE
a. 150 members from the team color
b. The music will be provided by the wellness coordinator or MAPEH teacher.
c. Mandated a dress code of jogging pants and shirts for all participants. Allow each team to decide on
the theme of their shirts to add creativity and sense of unity within the teams.
