Information Storage and Management

Course and Program Details

The Diverse and Exploding Digital Universe (IDC)

Organizations and IT professionals are facing enormous challenges when it comes to managing the huge growth in digital information created by individuals and industry. According to a recent study by IDC, by 2011, the digital universe will be 10 times the size it was in 2006. Managing this deluge of data is quickly becoming the number-one challenge for IT organizations worldwide. How should you protect, manage, optimize, and leverage this information? Are you and your team prepared?

Exciting Opportunities for Information Management Professionals

Industry studies estimate that more than a million new information management professionals will be required by 2012. But the skills necessary to harness this explosion of digital information are in short supply. In the tradition of yesterdays server- and network-oriented experts, skilled information storage and management professionals are quickly becoming the new vanguard of elite IT professionals. These experts will be faced with bringing order and leadership to a complex management task. Traditional knowledge and experience with operating systems and networking typically do not cover the complexity of todays information management needs. Fortunately, IT managers and individuals can participate in an exclusive learning opportunityour Information Storage and Management courseto prepare them for theses challenges.

Great Value Information Storage and Management represents a great value for managers and individuals. The cost for the five-day training is only $2,690 and includes a free exam voucher ($200 value) for VUE or Prometric testing centers.

Information Storage and Management*

Information Storage and Management (ISM) is an industry-leading open storage technology course that covers topics ranging from networked-storage infrastructure to data security and storage virtualization. ISM is a five-day instructor-led class delivered at many EMC and third-party training locations throughout the world. ISM is the only course of its kind to fill the knowledge gap in understanding varied components of modern storage infrastructure. ISM, the first course in the EMC Proven Professional Storage Technologist Track, provides a comprehensive introduction to storage technology that will enable you to make more informed decisions in an increasingly complex IT environment. You will learn about the architectures, features, and benefits of intelligent storage systems; networked storage technologies and long-term archiving solutions, information security, and the emerging field of storage virtualization technologies. This unique, open course focuses on storage technology concepts and principles that are reinforced with EMC examples of actual solutions. Realistic case studies enable you to design the most appropriate solution for given sets of criteria.

Who Should Take the ISM Course? Have you been asked the following questions, or do you dread the next scheduled meeting with your CIO? Should we deploy SAN or NAS to support the new application running an ORACLE database? How should we handle our growth of data filesexpand our NAS or implement a CAS system to address file sharing data growth? What should we measure now to determine capacity planning for next year? Should we apply RAID 5 or RAID 3 for our new storage? How should we leverage local and/or remote replication technologies at the lowest price point? If these questions sound familiar, the ISM course is for you.
