BỘ ĐỀ DỰ ĐOÁN IELTS SPEAKING QUÝ 2/2024
1. Where you live now (Uyên)
Let’s talk about where you live now
• Which town or city do you live in now?
Now I’m living in a province, which is situated in the north of Vietnam, named Hung Yen. In
fact, it is a small and developing town with thousands of residents. In recent years, a
remarkable development has taken place in the town and made it look more similar to a
large modern city. In addition, my hometown has a wide range of tourist attractions to
tour around and people living here are so amiable that they are always willing to support
someone who is in trouble.
• Are there any things you don’t like about your area? (What are they?)
I really love and adore my hometown. But of course, every coin has two sides and the
living condition of this town is not an exception. Due to the rapid development, the
environment of the town I live in is not only gradually polluted but the traffic also is at a
standstill sometimes. As a commuter, I often get in trouble with moving to somewhere as I
have to wait for a long time during rush hour.
• Do you think you will continue to live there for a long time? (Why? Why not?)
To be honest, I haven’t made up my mind yet. However, I would consider the settlement in
the city because I prefer its hustle and bustle in the flow of daily working and life. Perhaps I
would move to the city and take advantage of facilities and job opportunities there to
improve my future career.
• What are some changes in the area recently?
In recent years, my hometown has witnessed several significant changes. Specifically, there
are some companies from large cities have widen their business by investing to locate
more nationwide branches and my area has experienced some of them. Moreover, the
local authority has poured money and effort to enhance infrastructure and transportation
systems and recreational spaces for the community. Besides, there has been a growth in
tourism initiatives applicated which leads to the promotion in dwellers’ income.
• Do you live in a house or an apartment?
Actually, I have been living in a cottage with my family in our beloved town. We have been
attached to this house for decades. My house is not too spacious but it is always fully
equipped to meet the needs of all members. I am satisfied and feel comfortable with life in
that house.
• What is your favourite room in your home? (Why?)
Funny you should ask that. My favorite haunt in my home is my bedroom. It is the room
that represents my style and treasures many of my memories, both when I’m happy and
down in the dumps. For me, my own bedroom gives me a sense of security and it is the
place I want to go to more than anywhere else.
• What things make your home pleasant to live in? (Why?)
Well, there is a warm and familiar atmosphere in my house. Additionally, the presence of
family members and the positive energy we share always make me feel safe and sound
and really happy. Because I have been attached to that house since I was a child so it
seems difficult to find anything uncomfortable here. In other words, I have always felt
satisfied with everything in my house.
• Are the people in your neighbourhood nice and friendly?
Yes, for sure. My neighbors are naive, gentle and generous. Indeed, for compatriots or
even strangers, they are willing to help anyone who get in challenging circumstances at all
hours and give without expecting anything in return. Moreover, they are good-natured
people and persistent in life. Their efforts are rewarded and illustrated by the development
and innovation of my hometown today.
• Do you know any of your neighbours?
Yes, but not much. It sounds a bit ridiculous but honestly, I don't really know and get along
with my neighbors very well. The reason is that we are all busy with our own lives and the
opportunities to interact with each other are limited. Of course, we also have the chances
to exchange and chat with each other a few times but that really can only be counted on
the fingers of one hand. I hope that one day soon I can ask about and talk to them as
before.
• Is the place where you live quiet or noisy?
That’s an interesting question. Fortunately, I live and study in a small town which is a
tranquil place. Part of the reason is that there are not too many people living here, so the
placidity is always available. In addition, people always respect other people's private
space so they will try to mitigate noise as much as possible.
2. Study (QA)
• What do you study?
That’s an interesting question when you ask me what I have to learn at school. In fact, I
have joined in over 10 subjects including 3 main aspects: maths, literature, English and two
distinct fields: science and social. However, I like best is English because it is an
international language and considered official language in many countries in the world,
moreover, it is useful for me to get a job in the future because there are many foreign
2
enterprises in Vietnam with the big investment in our market, so it’s clear that we totally
get a lot of benefits when learning this language.
• What do you find most interesting about your studies? (Why?)
About my studies, the most interesting thing that I find is that I will have to program
websites for my group's presentation according to the tasks assigned by the teacher. This
not only helps me approach, get familiar and become proficient with common computer
tools but also helps me improve my communication and discussion skills with friends and
practice my confidence when having to present in front of many people.
• Which is more important to you—the teachers or the other students on your
course? (Why?)
From my point of view, both are significant elements in my learning path. About the
teachers who teach me school exercises from easy ones to more advanced levels while the
other students, they can be my classmates, sharing emotions and stories with me and
when I encounter difficulties in studying that I cannot ask the teacher right away, I can
discuss math problems with my classmates. Moreover, both of them make unforgetable
memories in my life.
• How much time do you spend studying every week?
I dedicate over fifty hours to my studies each week, ensuring I always grasp the important
knowledge in my courses. I strive to immerse myself fully in my academic pursuits,
investing time for researching, and problem-solving. It's important for me to maintain a
certain concentration to my studies to achieve my academic goals.
• How do you usually travel to the city where you study?
Actually, I often go by electric bike, its name is X-men. This is a means of transport used
quite a lot in the city where I study, from the elderly to teenagers of the same age as me all
use this means of transport. The reason for this is because it is quite safe and easy to use
for the user, moreover it does not pollute the environment.
• Do you study best in the morning or the afternoon? (Why?)
I'm definitely more productive in the afternoons. I find it easier to absorb information and
concentrate on my studies. Moreover, after I finish studying, my ability to remember is
also longer and better than when I study in the morning.
• Have you always wanted to study this subject/ these subjects (Why/ Why not?)
For me, this question is difficult to answer it properly because every coin has two sides,
English is compulsory subject in all levels from primary to universities or colleges so
obviously, educators are emphasizing the importance of this one, first, it is easy because of
its alphabet has the same the letters in Vietnam, it is not complex to pronounce and
remember the new words, and what’s more it’s also complicated because there are many
3
intricate structures with different usages which confuse me, while all the test and exams in
Vietnam are measured by grammatical tests.
3. Work (Phương)
• What kind of work do you do?
Actually, I am only 16 years old, so I am a high school student in a rural school. Most of the
time I spend in learning academic subjects at school to get the best marks with the hope
that I will get into my dream university. One of the fundamental requirements of the
university is that I have IElTS certificate at least band 6.0 for the entrance exam so I take
part in this test to get my target .
• What do you find most interesting about your work? (Why?)
There are many interesting aspects in education in general and learning in particular. What
excites me about learning is that it not only enriches us with useful knowledge but also
highlights the value of each subject. Natural sciences influence our thinking and logic,
while the arts help us express our creative thought processes. From this, we can identify
which field we are suited to, focus on our strengths, and more easily determine our future
path.
• Which is more important to you – the people you work with or the work you do?
That is a difficult question. For students, of course, nothing is more important than
studying. Although studying is not the only path, it is the shortest route to success.
However, if we have companions to support us on our learning journey, that is extremely
fortunate. Sometimes, we can learn new things and improve ourselves. I believe that to
have a memorable school experience, studying and good friends must always go hand in
hand.
• Do you work best in the morning or the afternoon? (Why?)
• Would you like to change the place you work? (Why?)
I never thought about it, everything at the school I attended was extremely good. I was
educated very thoroughly in both ethics and knowledge. There I met extremely excellent
and dedicated teachers and good friends who were always by my side to help and
encourage me. Everything helps me improve myself and become a healthy person.
Besides, entering my current school is a matter of hard work and study, which was a big
dream when I was in middle school. Everything there is wonderful and I want to have a
memorable youth and good results at that high school.

was really a nightmare due to the noisome scent and noise everywhere.

dozens of passengers for each trip. Each place has its own characteristics, so it is difficult to
say in general.

distance from my home, and this leads to the rise in my frequency of using public transport

that it is still evolving every day. I believe that adaptability and willingness to learn are
necessary factors in the digital age.
• How would your life be different if there were no computers? (Why/Why not?)
Funny you should ask that. I think that without computers, there would be a pretty
significant and challenging change in our daily lives. Because a lot of tasks are done by
computers, the absence of computers would probably make those tasks more time-
consuming and laborious. Also, communication would be more difficult because instead of
sending and receiving messages in seconds, we would have to wait days, even weeks, to
receive them. Moreover, learning would be a little different because virtual classrooms
today have helped students all over the world a lot in acquiring knowledge.

Of course, I think every girl wants to be given flowers. A traditional, classic gift that never
goes out of style. In any case, when you cannot find a suitable gift, giving fresh flowers is a

No, I don’t. Now I often use my smartphone to check the time. I feel it is more convenient

are many who spend a lot of time indoors, maybe due to work or personal preferences.
28. Neighbours (Ngọc)
• Do you know your neighbours?
Actually, the area where I live is pretty small but also bustle. The reason for this is almost
all populations have lived there for a long time, from generation to generation and hardly
move out. Therefore, most of the residents know each other and some of them are even
18
relatives. I am not an exception, I have lived here for 16 years so even though I am not an
extrovert I am still acquainted with the majority of people who dwell here.
• What do you think of your neighbours?
Honestly, even though I know most of my neighbours but I don’t really close to them. As I
mentioned before, I am an introvert so I spend most of the time at home and not
communicate with my neighbours at all. All I know about my neighbors is mostly what I've
heard, but they're all good things, combined with a few interactions, from my point of view
they're approachable and kind people.
• How do you get along well with your neighbours?
Well, despite my poor communication skill, objectively speaking, my relationships with my
neighbours is not very bad. I believe the key is in my heart. In the words of the writer
Samuel Taylor Coleridge: “What comes from the heart, goes to the heart.”. As long as I
treat them well, they will be nice to us. From my perspective, this is not only neighbor
relationships but also in the way I treat anyone else.
• Do you think it’s important to have a good relationship with one’s neighbours?
That’s an interesting question! I would answer absolutely yes. In Vietnamese’s conception,
we notion that: “A nearby stranger is better than a far-away relative” for the reason that
they are our companions, can help us with many things in life, more than our blood
relatives but far away. However, on the other side according to me, it’s not that important
because there are many neighbours that are not worth to be nice to them and we don’t
need to trying too hard pleasing others. To sum up, I do believe it is important but not
really.

lie deep down in my heart.

Actually, I am a high school student now, I have to study many things else so I don’t have

day, writing everything down helps me calm down and feel better.
• Do you think the kinds of things you write will change in the future? Why/Why
not?
19
I haven’t really thought much about it, but I would say probably the kinds of things I write
will not change too much in the future. I mean, it may change a little bit because when I
grow up, my way of thinking will be more different and the demand is not the same as
before. I can’t say for sure but the contents I write in the future can be dissimilar but not
too far from things I write today.
• Do you prefer typing or writing things by hand? Why?
That’s an interesting question. I would absolutely answer that I love writing by hand more
than typing. Nowadays, technology has developed dramatically that I have to admit typing
is so convenient. However, from my perspective, writing things by hands brings me a
completely different feeling. It makes me feel comfortable, make me feel real, like I can
