Concrete Canvas Installation in J&K

In January 2020, work was initiated for slope erosion protection at the USBRL Project in Banihal, J&K, involving the installation of 1740sqm of 8mm thick Concrete Canvas. Despite challenges from snowfall, the team successfully prepared the slope and installed the canvas using lukewarm water for hydration. In January 2020, we were allotted work of slope erosion protection & ground
covering of affected area from KM 150/330 to 150/370 at USBRL Project,
Banihal J & K. We started the work from preparation of slope to remove
boulders, pebbles, etc & evenness of slope and ground. All preparation work
was done by IRCON in supervision of our site supervisors to get aesthetic view
only. Unfortunately before starting of actual Concrete Canvas installation,
snowfall happened in site area. After continuous 3day snowfall, we had chance
of 3-4 days to work, so we decided to take the risk and removed all snow by
mechanical means and after that installed concrete canvas on slope.

After that we stopped work for some time as January month is pick point of
winter season & snowfall predictions were conformed. We resume the work at
start of February month and had 10 days clear gap before any other snowfalls
or rains. In that 10days we installed concrete canvas 8mm thick on slope area
to protect erosion of slope as well as ground area to channelize water in near
drain. Hydration is done using lukewarm water so that CC can gain its proper
strength in cold weather. Total 1740sqm of Concrete Canvas 8mm was installed
under supervision of 3 SSPL staff members & 15 skilled labour team.
