PREMISE
The Wild Robot, which is based on the novel by
Peter Brown. The movie adaptation explores themes of
technology, nature, and survival in a futuristic yet organic
world. The protagonist, Roz, is a robot who finds herself
stranded on an island with no memory of how she got there.
As she learns to survive in this new
environment, she gradually becomes part of the ecosystem,
learning from the animals and forming a bond with the natural
world.
The movie raises questions about the intersection of
technology and nature, as well as the evolving concept of
identity and what it means to be "alive."

THE FILM
The film opens with Roz, a robot who unexpectedly awakens on a remote
island, alone and with no memory of how she arrived. The island is wild and
uninhabited, populated only by animals, plants, and harsh natural elements.
Roz’s robotic body is designed for specific tasks,
but her programming is incomplete, and she is not prepared for life in the wilderness.
At first, Roz struggles to survive. She has no survival instincts, no understanding of
nature, and no way to communicate with the animals. Her mechanical movements
are slow, and she is initially shunned by the creatures of the island. However, she
starts to observe the natural world around her, learning how the animals live and
how to adapt to her environment. She eventually learns how to gather food, build
shelter, and protect herself from the dangers of the island.
Pg No. 7
Over time, Roz's character begins to change. As she spends more time in the
wild, she develops feelings — emotions that she was never programmed to
experience. She forms deep bonds with the island’s inhabitants, particularly a
family of geese. When a group of goslings are born, Roz takes on the role of a
mother figure, caring for and protecting them as they grow.
Through these relationships, Roz discovers the true meaning of love,
compassion, and community.
As the story progresses, Roz faces various challenges that force her to reckon
with her identity as a robot. She is torn between the cold logic of her
programming and the emotional connections she has developed with the
animals. When a dangerous storm threatens the island, Roz must make a
difficult choice: whether to follow her original programming and return to
human control or stay with her new family and protect the animals she has
come to love.
Pg. No. 8
In the end, Roz embraces her newfound sense of identity and purpose,
understanding that, while she may have been built as a machine, she can choose her
path in life.
The movie closes with Roz continuing to live on the island, having fully
integrated into the natural world — a robot who has learned to love and be
loved in return

STUDENT'S REFLECTION
"After reading The Wild Robot, I thought a lot about how important it is to adapt to
new situations and be open to learning from others. Roz, who starts off knowing
nothing about the wilderness, eventually learns how to survive by observing and
helping the animals around her.
This reminded me of when I joined a new school and had to make new friends in an
unfamiliar environment. Like Roz, I felt out of place at first, but by being open and
friendly, I was able to find my own place in the community.
I also learned a lot about empathy from Roz. Even though she’s a robot, she shows
compassion to others and is always willing to help. This taught me that being kind
and understanding can help build strong relationships. Roz's story also made me
think about the importance of nature and how all living things depend on each other.
Overall, The Wild Robot reminded me of how essential it is to be resilient, stay
curious, and appreciate the world around us."

LEARNING OUTCOMES
Watching The Wild Robot movie offers viewers an engaging exploration of themes like
adaptability, empathy, and resilience, as we follow Roz, a robot who learns to survive in
the wilderness. Through her journey, viewers gain insight into the importance of
adaptation and problem-solving as Roz learns to navigate her new environment and use
resources wisely. The film also fosters empathy, showing how Roz forms meaningful
connections with the animals, demonstrating the value of compassion and understanding
across differences.
Viewers also observe the significance of community and teamwork, as Roz becomes an
accepted and valuable part of the animal family by helping others.
Additionally, the movie subtly encourages environmental awareness, depicting the
interconnectedness of nature and the role each creature plays within it. Altogether,
The Wild Robot movie provides a meaningful learning experience, inspiring audiences
to appreciate the natural world, value community, and approach challenges with
resilience and empathy.
