PLAYSCRIPT

A play script is a piece of stage-ready writing. A play script is the written version of a theatrical
performance. Play scripts are written for actors to perform. They contain all the lines they'll need to
perform and some stage directions too, which help them know how to perform.
There are seven basic formatting elements that make up the text pages of a properly formatted playscript.
These are Page Numbering, Act/Scene designations, the Setting description, Blackout/Curtain/End
designations, Character Names, Dialogue, and Stage Directions.
 A play script will normally include the following features:
 A character list. At the beginning of a play script, you'll find a list of all the characters that are in
the play.
 Speaker's name, followed by a colon (:)
 Scene number, scene title and setting description.
 Stage directions. .
 Speech without inverted commas.
