Bahadur Singh President of Athletics Federation of India Bahadur Singh Sagoo, a former shot-put gold medalist and
Sagoo (AFI) Olympian, was elected as the new president of AFI on
January 7, 2025. He succeeds Adille Sumariwalla and will
serve a four-year term.
Devajit Saikia Secretary of BCCI Devajit Saikia was elected unopposed as the Secretary of
BCCI during the Special General Meeting on January 12,
2025. He will assume his role with immediate effect.
Anju Bobby George Chairperson of AFI Athletes Commission Anju Bobby George was named chairperson of the Athletics
Federation of India's Athletes Commission, unveiled on
January 8, 2025. The commission includes Neeraj Chopra

Bank of India (RBI) Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), succeeding
Shaktikanta Das. He brings over 33 years of experience across
finance, taxation, power, information technology, and mining.
Malhotra will serve a three-year term starting from December 11,
2024.
Vivek Joshi Election Commissioner Vivek Joshi, a distinguished mechanical engineer from IIT-Roorkee
and a 1989-batch IAS officer from the Haryana cadre, was appointed
as Election Commissioner of India. At 58, he is among the youngest
to join the Election Commission of India (ECI). With a vast career in
administrative services, governance, and financial regulation, Joshi's
tenure will last until February 18, 2031.
Gyanesh Kumar Chief Election Commissioner On February 17, 2025, Gyanesh Kumar, the Election Commissioner
(CEC) of India, was officially appointed as the next Chief Election
Commissioner (CEC) by the Law Ministry. He is the first CEC to be
appointed under the new law governing the selection of Election
Commission (EC) members. His tenure will last until January 26,
2029, overseeing crucial electoral events, including the upcoming
Lok Sabha elections.
Vitul Kumar Director General of the On December 31, 2024, Vitul Kumar assumed the charge of Director
Central Reserve Police Force General of the CRPF. He succeeded Anish Dayal Singh, who retired.
(CRPF) Kumar, a 1993-batch IPS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, was
previously the Special Director General of the CRPF.

General V K Singh Governor of Mizoram General V K Singh was sworn in as the Governor of Mizoram on

Aizawl.

Rajendra Governor of Kerala On December 24, 2024, President Droupadi Murmu appointed
Vishwanath Arlekar Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, previously the Governor of Bihar, as

Dr. Hari Babu Governor of Odisha On December 24, 2024, President Droupadi Murmu appointed Dr.
Kambhampati Hari Babu Kambhampati, previously the Governor of Mizoram, as
the new Governor of Odisha.
Devendra Fadnavis Chief Minister of On December 5, 2024, Senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis took
Maharashtra oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time. The

Rajesh Nirwan Director General of BCAS On January 27, 2025, Rajesh Nirwan, a senior IPS officer from the

Cabinet.

his role.
Ayushmann Brand Ambassador for FICCI On January 23, 2025, Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana was
Khurrana Frames 25th Anniversary appointed as the brand ambassador for the 25th anniversary
Edition edition of FICCI Frames. This year's theme is "RISE: Redefining

Mahesh Kumar BSF Additional Director Senior IPS Officer Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal was appointed as BSF
Aggarwal General (ADG) Additional Director General (ADG) on January 19, 2025. He is from
the 1994 IPS batch of the Tamil Nadu cadre and previously served
as Commissioner of Police in Chennai.
Justice Devendra Chief Justice of the Delhi High Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya was sworn in as the Chief
Kumar Upadhyaya Court Justice of the Delhi High Court on January 21, 2025. The oath was
administered by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena at Raj
Niwas in New Delhi, with dignitaries including Chief Minister Atishi

Netumbo Nandi- President of Namibia Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah became Namibia's first

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Director-General of WTO The WTO General Council reappointed Ngozi Okonjo-
Iweala as the 8th Director-General for a second four-
year term, starting September 1, 2025. She is the first
woman and the first African to hold this position.

Micheál Martin Prime Minister of Ireland On January 23, 2025, Micheál Martin was elected as
the Prime Minister of Ireland for the second time. He
leads a coalition government formed by Fianna Fáil,
Fine Gael, and independent lawmakers. This coalition
aims to address critical social needs and strengthen
Ireland's relationships with Europe, the US, and the
UK.
John Mahama President of Ghana John Mahama was sworn in as Ghana's president for
the third time on January 7, 2025. He previously
served as president from 2012 to 2017 and returns to
address economic issues and corruption.

Nicolas Maduro President of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro Moros was sworn in as President of
Moros Venezuela for his third consecutive term on January
10, 2025. The ceremony took place at the Legislative
Palace in Caracas, where Maduro took the oath on a
copy of the Bolivarian Constitution signed by Hugo
Chávez.

Joseph Khalil Aoun President of Lebanon Joseph Khalil Aoun was elected as the 14th President
of Lebanon on January 9, 2025. After a two-year
presidential vacuum, the Lebanese Parliament
elected Aoun, who previously served as the
commander of the Lebanese Army.

Francois Bayrou Prime Minister of France Francois Bayrou was appointed as the new Prime
Minister of France on December 13, 2024. President
