I. Project Duration
This project lasts two weeks. On the first day of the week, we will plan and
lecture for people in the community of Apas. For the rest of the first week, we will
disseminate the program so that people in the community will join the clean-up
drive, put bins for waste segregation, and recycle. For the second week, we
students will monitor the Brgy. Apas and evaluate the effectiveness of the project.
II. Objective
To maintain cleanliness and orderliness in coastal areas of Barangay Apas,
Cebu City.
III. Project Description a. Background
(Environmental issues such as improper waste disposal, pollution, and poor
solid waste management have negatively affected [Barangay Apas].
Uncollected garbage, littering, and clogged drainage systems contribute to
health risks, flooding, and environmental degradation. Through the
"Bayanihan Para sa Kalikasan" initiative, the barangay will work together to
implement a clean-up drive and strengthen solid waste management
practices. This project aims to promote proper waste segregation, recycling,
and responsible disposal, fostering a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable
community.)Detailed schedule of activities clogged drainage systems
contribute to health risks, flooding, and environmental degradation. Through
the "Bayanihan Para sa Kalikasan" initiative, the barangay will work together
to implement a clean-up drive and strengthen solid waste management
practices. This project aims to promote proper waste segregation, recycling,
and responsible disposal, fostering a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable
community.)
b. Justification
Improper waste disposal and weak solid waste management lead to pollution,
health hazards, and clogged drainage systems, increasing the risk of flooding
and disease outbreaks while negatively impacting the barangay's cleanliness
and livability. Implementing regular clean-up drives, proper waste segregation,
and responsible disposal, along with active community participation, fosters
environmental responsibility and sustainability, reinforcing the spirit of
"Bayanihan" in maintaining a clean and healthy barangay.
c. Benefits Derived from the Project
The project will create cleaner and healthier surroundings by reducing waste
accumulation, preventing pollution, and ensuring proper waste disposal
through regular clean-up drives and effective solid waste management. It will
also empower the community by promoting active participation in waste
segregation, recycling, and responsible disposal, fostering unity and long-term
environmental sustainability in the barangay.
d. Coverage
The coverage of the project includes barangay streets, alleys, public areas,
and residential zones that require waste management improvements through
regular clean-up drives and waste segregation. It also targets schools,
barangay facilities, drainage systems, and waterways to ensure proper waste
disposal and prevent blockages that can lead to pollution and flooding.
IV. Methodology
The "Bayanihan Para sa Kalikasan" initiative focuses on clean-up drives and
solid waste management by mobilizing the community through awareness
campaigns and volunteer efforts. It implements regular clean-up activities, waste
segregation, and proper disposal practices, while coordinating with municipal
waste services to enhance collection and promote composting. To ensure
longterm sustainability, the project establishes a waste monitoring committee,
enforces waste reduction policies, and recognizes community efforts in
maintaining cleanliness.
