I was born on January 25, 1882, in a privileged Victorian
household. My father was a historian and author, my mother
was born in India and served as a model for paintings. I have 3

BIOGRAPHY full siblings and four half siblings. As a young girl I was
humorous and playful. However early traumas darkened my
[Link] half brothers took advantage of me, my mom
and my sister died, in 1904 my dad passed away. This
contributed to emotional setbacks and being institutionalized,
however I continued college, and started writing. Me and my
siblings purchased a house in London, met some individuals
from the Bloombsbury group, and we became famous in 1910
for the Dreadnought Hoax. During this period I became closer
to Leonard Woolf and we got married on August 10 1912.

I published my first novel in 1915. In 1928 my novel Orlando

gained popularity, In 1929 my feminist essay “A Room of one's
own” followed by “The Waves' ', and lots of literary work that
gained my legacy. In my career I spoke frequently at colleges,
wrote moving essays, stories, letters.
In my forties I established myself as an intellectual, an
innovative and influential writer and pioneering feminist.
Despite my outward success I suffered from depression and

BIOGRAPHY mood swings.

On March 28, 1941, I took away my life. In World War 2 my

house was destroyed. I couldn't keep up with my despair so I
filled my pockets with stones and walked into the River Ouse,
letting the stream take me with it. I still remained one of the
most influential authors of the 21st century.
