Reflective report

1. Introduction
The group drama performance's chosen title was "Louis ‘s 82nd Tribulation." The ethical
dilemma in the performance focuses on Louis since he had to decide between joining in
company's most significant meeting or leaving to pick up his daughter, who had waited for
him 30 minutes, from school.
The group consisted of 5 members from the class: Thuc Nguyen (Louis), Thao My (CEO),
Cat Tien (Client), Van Anh (Manager), and Bao Khanh (Employee).
This report will use Gibbs' Reflective Model, see Fig. 1, to analyze the planning and process
of the group performance.
2. Reflections
a. Description
To work on the formative task, the teacher offers the students the freedom to create groups.
With a drive to polish the performance, we built the group based on each member's capacity
and knowledge. Although we had flexible time owing to the Tet Holiday, all of the
participants insisted on beginning group work as soon as feasible. As a team, we agreed to
allow each member to come up with their scenarios of ethical issues within a week, and
then we unanimously decided to choose Thao. My ethical dilemma situation happens in a
company. During the Tet Holiday, there are several online group discussions to adjust the
scenario, form a script, and divide specific roles, and tasks among members. Because our
schedules have less time consistency, we only have a short time after finishing the morning
classes to use the classroom space for shooting videos. However, the filming process went
smoothly and ended faster than expected.
We monitor the video editing process and contribute ideas to our editor, Bao Khanh, to
achieve the most positive outcome. Furthermore, We pay more attention to receiving each
member's opinions to have other points of view in solving the ethical problems that occurred
in the scenario. Although there are some arguments about the other solutions for Louis,
they always end up positively and each member understands more about the other. It is
beneficial for my role as a presenter, I can gather all the ideas and then come up with the
most positive solutions as well as further prepare for other solutions that apply different
ethical dilemma frameworks. We finish the group on time with confidence in the content and
members’s knowledge.
b. Feelings
I am generally satisfied with the group work since all members put in their best effort in the
preparation and the performance. Despite some disadvantages during the filming process
and several arguments in terms of ideas, we still maintained the spirit of teamwork and
ended up with a positive result. Therefore, as the group’s presenter, I was confident with the
presentation as well as the preparation for answering the teacher’s questions.
c. Evaluation
The team members' willingness to contribute, receive opinions, and complete tasks with a
high sense of responsibility contributed to making the performance happen in a positive
direction. Although there was a slight difficulty in arranging common time for filming, each
member tried to participate in the shooting with the little free time they shared after morning
classes. Furthermore, members’ willingness to receive and understand others' opinions
leads all the arguments to end up with positive results.
d. Analysis
The key to success in our group performance is the belief between members and individual
opinion contributions. As mentioned above, the group is created based on the
acknowledgment of each member's ability and expertise. The impact of collaboration
abilities on individual performance motivation is partly influenced by the team members'
group efficacy perceptions (Steiner, 2014). Therefore, with a belief between others, all
members have motivation, a sense of responsibility, and a positive contributing attitude. We
ensure that each member has enough space for creativity and contributes ideas in creating,
and editing the script as well as in the filming and editing processes. According to Flanagin
(2004), the quality of information and equity of contributions among group members can
enhance satisfaction with group processes, as individuals perceive their contributions as
valued and fair. It is completely true for our situation because each member is satisfied and
confident in the group's performance.
e. Conclusion
From this group work, I realized that to achieve an effective group performance, every
individual needs a positive attitude, opinion contribution and receptiveness, good
communication, and trust in others' ability and responsibility in finishing tasks. Furthermore,
each member will contribute with higher productivity when the work environment is fair and
has space for creativity. Overall, this group performance went well and satisfied us, with a
belief and confident attitude, each member can have further improvement when working
with future tasks or in other groups. We also gain some experience and skills in working as
a group to prepare for the future workforce.
f. Action plan
With a positive process as well as a good result, we can apply this group performance
experience to future performance, encourage feedback, and provide opportunities for
professional development. However, if we want to have more effective group work in the
future, it is necessary for further discussion in terms of creating a detailed schedule with
clear timelines, allocating specific time slots for group tasks, and also continue using online
collaboration tools for efficient communication.
3. Conclusion
In conclusion, the group drama performance titled "Louis' 82nd Tribulation" was a
successful collaboration between five classmates. The Gibbs' Reflective Model is used in
this report to inform the project process. Despite some challenges during the filming process
and disagreements on ideas, the team maintained a positive attitude and worked together
to create a satisfying result. The key to their success was a belief in each other's abilities
and a willingness to contribute opinions and ideas. The group's experience has provided
valuable insights into the importance of positive attitudes, effective communication, and trust
in others' abilities. To improve future group work, the members need to be aware of the
importance of having a more detailed schedule, allocating specific time slots for tasks, and
the roles of online collaboration tools for efficient communication. All members have the
potential to develop themselves and be more successful in future courses and group work.

I. Introduction
The movie “The Devil Wears Prada”, adapted from Lauren Weisberger's novel, was
published in 2006. Following Singh's (2021) online report, although the film was not a huge
hit at that time, the movie still outperformed box office projections, remaining in cinemas
longer than projected and doing well internationally. Despite a $35 million budget, it grossed
$124 million domestically and $201 million abroad. The storyline is The plot revolves mostly
around Andrea Sachs, a fresh college graduate who becomes the junior personal assistant
to Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of the fashion magazine Runway. The film delves into
topics of ambition, power, and the price of success in the cutthroat fashion business. What
happens in the film is Andrea striving to manage the obstacles of her job and strike a
balance between her professional and personal life, while also diving into the intricacies of
the fashion business and the sacrifices made by those who work in it.
However, this report will focus on analyzing two significant ethical dilemmas involving
personal and organizational levels. The first ethical dilemma that happened to Andrea was

magazine with her personal life and beliefs. This dilemma highlights the compromises

Miranda Priestly, Runway's strong editor-in-chief, and her harsh treatment of staff which can
create a concern about ethical problems in workplace relationships, employee well-being,
and the misuse of authority inside organizations. The main body of this report will delve into
why these difficulties are ethical rather than just issues, give the background to comprehend
the challenges and present ethical concerns based on scholarly research. Other solutions,
which are different from the movie's decisions, for these dilemmas will be analyzed by using
ethical theories and approaches such as utilitarianism, deontology, and virtue ethics.
