Square

The document discusses the geometric properties of circles and squares, focusing on the relationships between chords, angles, and the construction of a square within a circle. It outlines key properties of circles, such as area, circumference, and the behavior of chords, as well as defining a square as a shape with equal sides and right angles. The presentation emphasizes the mathematical principles that govern these shapes and their interactions.

Circle

A circle is a two-dimensional shape where every

point on the edge is the same distance from the
center. It is a closed figure with no straight edges
or corners.
It has some properties which are as follows :

1. area : πr2

2. circumference : 2πr

3. If chords are equal , then they subtend equal
angles at the center

4. Its converse is that if chords subtend equal
angle , then they are equal

5. The perpendicular from the center of a circle
to a chord bisects the chord

6. The perpendicular bisector of the chord
passes from the center

7. line drawn through the center of a circle to
bisect the chord is perpendicular to the chord

8 Equal chords of a circle (or of congruent
circles) are equidistant from the center (or
centers )

9. Chords equidistant from the center of a circle
are equal in length

10. If two chords of a circle are equal, then their
corresponding arcs are congruent and
conversely, if two arcs are congruent, then their
corresponding chords are equal.

11 Congruent arcs of a circle subtend equal
angles at the center

12. The angle subtended by an arc at the center
is double the angle subtended by it at any point
on the remaining part of the circle .

13 . Angles in the same segment of a circle are
equal.

14. Angle in a semicircle is a right angle
The angle subtended by an arc at the center is
double the angle subtended by it at any point on the
remaining part of the circle

15. If a line segment joining two points subtends
equal angles at two other points lying on the same
side of the line containing the line segment, the
four points lie on a circle.

16. The sum of either pair of opposite angles of a
cyclic quadrilateral is 180°.

17. If sum of a pair of opposite angles of a
quadrilateral is 180°, the quadrilateral is cyclic.
Square

Square is a 2d shape in which all 4 sides are

equal and all angles are equal to 90°.
