Figure 2 shows an empty vase of height T cm. The vase consists of two portions. The lower portion is in
the shape of the solid described in (a) with base radius 8 cm and height 6 cm. The upper portion is a
frustum of a right circular cone. The slant height of the cone is 20 cm and the height of the frustum is half
of the height of the cone. Water is poured into the vase to a depth h cm at a rate of 4π cm3 s −1, where
0 ≤ h ≤ T . Let V cm3 be the volume of water in the vase.
(i) Find the rate of increase of the depth of water when the depth is 3 cm.
