Method Statement -Containers Repair
1.0 OBJECTIVE OF PROCEDURE
This procedure provides details on work sequence, materials, equipment and safety with
reference to specification, field quality control and HSE Plan pertaining to Container repair
2.0 SCOPE OF WORKS
To carry out Container Repair(Painting) works at as per specification and to the Consultant
approval.
3.0 TOOLS AND EQUIPMENTS

4.0 SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMME
4.1 Safety
• All workers shall provide with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and shall be
worn every time they are enter the site.
• Eye protection should be worn. If accidental eye contamination occurs, wash
thoroughly with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
• If the product contacted with skin occurs, it must be removed before curing takes
place. Wash out with an industrial skin cleaner followed by plenty of soap & water.
• The Safety Supervisor / Safety Officer shall ensure the workers understand the safety
regulations and explain in detail in particular hazards, where the workers are working and the
precaution to be taken their safety.
4.2 Environmental
• All workers shall educate on good environmental management practices and well-
disciplined to environment.
• The garbage bin shall be provided at the working area and Supervisor shall ensure its
must be collected regularly and disposed-off at the approved dumpsite.
• Spillage of component products should be absorbed onto earth, sand or other inert
material and transferred to a suitable vessel. Disposal of such spillages or empty packaging
should be in accordance with local waste disposal authority regulations.
• Gazebo ventilated tent will be installed on site to cover up all container in process of
spraying painting and repair and control risks of painting fuming.
5.0 QA/QC PROGRAMME
5.1 Inspections and Test Plan
In order to ensure the quality Repair works meet the requirement, inspection and test shall be
carried out as per the Project Quality Plan (PQP).

6.0 WORK METHOD STATEMENT
6.1 General Instruction
-Manufacturer’s technical information must be provided by supplier such as label analysis,
instruction for handling, storing and applying each material proposed for use in this process
-Manufacturer’s approved subcontractor shall engage for the painting works.
6.3 Delivery of Paint
• Deliver materials to the project site in manufacturer’s original, unopened packages
and containers bearing manufacturer’s name and label. The label or decorated container shall
state;
a) The type of product
b) The brand name
c) Code number of paint
d) The manufacturer’s batch number
6.4 Storage
· Materials delivered are store in tightly covered containers in a well-ventilated area at a
minimum ambient temperature of 45o Fahrenheit (7oc). Maintain containers in clean
condition, free of foreign materials and residue. Keep storage area neat and orderly, remove
oily rags and waste daily.
6.5 Executions
• Paint shall not be applied in rain, mist or when the relative humidity exceeds 85
percent or to damp or wet surfaces.
SURFACE PREPARATION OF CONTAINERS.
· All dust is to be removed by wiping.
· All rust, scale are to be removed back to bare metal by wire brushing or chipping as
required.
· Surface is to be rubbed down to remove all irregularities.
