- To give students practice in reading both for gist and for detail.
- To enable students to talk about common phrases used in online messaging.
Objectives:
- Students will know how to communicate in oral and written formats using
chatspeak.
- Students will understand the importance of clarity in digital messaging.
- Students will improve their ability to recognize and use common chat
abbreviations and emoticons.

Anticipated Problems
and their Solutions:
When writing a chat dialogue, students may struggle with using abbreviations and
emoticons correctly. I will provide a list of common chat abbreviations and their
meanings, along with examples in context.
