TECHNICAL QUIZ
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a “Technical Quiz” under the IETE
Student Chapter on 21.08.2024 at 2 PM in Kandasamy Hall. The quiz focused on general topics related to
Electronics and Communication. Students actively participated in the first round, and 10 finalists were
selected for the next stage. In the final round, 10 questions were asked, and the top three students were
declared winners.

The event was conducted under the guidance of coordinators Mr. S. Satheesh Kumar, AP/ECE, and Ms. A.
Anitha Rani, AP/ECE, who supervised the competition. The IETE ISF Student Chapter successfully organized
the quiz competition.

[Link] SOLVING CONTEST

The IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers) Student Chapter hosted a thrilling
Sudoku contest on October 09, 2024, at [MB 207 Devices Laboratory]. The event saw active
participation from over 50 IETE student members, who came together to test their logical reasoning and
problem-solving skills.

The contest was structured in two competitive rounds. The first round challenged participants with beginner-
to-intermediate level Sudoku puzzles, where speed and accuracy were key. Out of all the participants, only
the top 15 performers advanced to the final round, which featured much more complex Sudoku grids that
demanded advanced techniques and quick thinking.

The grand finale was intense, with all finalists racing against the clock to complete their puzzles. In the end,
[Mr. Virsuth.K] a third-year electronics student, secured first place by solving the final puzzle in under 10
minutes The event was not only a demonstration of the participants’ analytical skills but also served as a
platform for promoting teamwork and healthy competition among IETE students. Organizers expressed
satisfaction with the event’s success, noting the enthusiasm of participants and the competitive yet friendly
spirit that marked the day. The IETE chapter looks forward to hosting similar engaging activities to sharpen
the students’ intellectual abilities in the future. Overall, the Sudoku contest was a huge success, reflecting
the dedication and passion of IETE student members for brain-challenging activities.

MOTION: REALTIME
SYSTEM FOR AUDIO
AND VIDEO
STREAMING
On behalf of Excel Engineering College, ISF-IETE Students chapter organizes a multimedia program
integrates various forms of content, including text, images, audio, video, and interactive elements, to deliver
an engaging and cohesive experience for the target audience. The primary goal of such a program may vary
depending on its purpose, whether it is educational, promotional, or entertainment-focused. The program
typically begins with a well-defined objective, outlining the target audience and the desired outcomes.

IETE Students actively participated and done the presentation on Multimedia on “Multimedia in Motion:
Real time system for audio and video streaming” held on 19.10.2024, under this title 84 students
actively participated and explained neatly about their work. In conclusion, a well-developed multimedia
program has the potential to meet its intended objectives by effectively integrating various content forms.
The development process, though challenging, offers valuable lessons and opportunities for future
enhancements. As multimedia technology evolves, these programs can be continuously refined to better
meet user needs and deliver an even more immersive experience.

the Multimedia Motion audio and Video Streaming competition.
[Link] CONTEST ON ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT CRAFT DESIGN TO INNOVATE
The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) ISF Student chapter successfully
conducted a “Design Contest on Electronic Circuit Craft Design to Innovate” on 30.01.2025. The
objective of this contest was to encourage innovation, creativity, and practical application of electronics
through circuit design and prototyping. The event provided a platform for students and professionals to
showcase their skills in designing innovative electronic circuits with real-world applications. The “Design
Contest on Electronic Circuit Craft Design to Innovate” successfully motivated participants to think
outside the box and implement their theoretical knowledge into practical applications. The students were
given by IC 555 Timer and ask them to do any application in this Integrated circuit. Nearly 8 batches
participated in this event. The event encouraged collaboration, innovation, and hands-on learning, aligning
with IETE’s mission to advance electronics and telecommunication engineering. The success of this event
has paved the way for future contests, workshops, and training programs to further strengthen research and
development in electronic circuit design

[Link] ON ENVISION FUTURE TECHNOLOGY TRENDS WITH MATLAB”

With full enthusiasm, the IETE Student Forum (ISF)-sponsored one day workshop on Envision Future
Technology Trends with MATLAB has been conducted in the ECE Department, Excel Engineering College, on
March 14, 2024. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India's leading
recognized professional society devoted to the advancement of science and technology in electronics,
telecommunications, and IT, founded in 1953. The IETE Student’s Forum of Excel Engineering College has
been set up with 55 student members from the ECE department through the involvement of faculty
members of the department.

The workshop started in a traditional way with a prayer song. The resource person for the workshop was Dr.
Vivek Ashokan, Regional Manager, ARK Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd., Chennai. Dr.K. Bommanna Raja, Principal of
Excel Engineering College (Autonomous), Dr.K. Tamilarasi, HOD of ECE, and besides, the faculty members
and 55 participants were present to make the program successful. Mr. S. Satheeshkumar, Assistant Professor
of ECE, welcomed all the respected dignitaries and highlighted the ISF aspect.

Dr. G. Jagajothi, Professor of ECE, introduced the resource person, Dr. Vivek Ashokan, Regional Manager,
ARK Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, who appreciated the efforts of the department conducting this
workshop and emphasized the benefits of students participation in such events to develop their technical
knowledge.

Resource Person Dr. Vivek Ashokan delivered elegant and simplified sessions on the basic components of
MATLAB and their functions. A total of 55 participants participated in and profited from this workshop. He
also encouraged the participants to delve deeper into the field of signal processing.
Mr. S. Satheeshkumar, Assistant Professor of ECE, organized this workshop, and the program ended with a
vote of thanks.
[Link] HUNT: CIRCUIT ANALYZING

The IETE Student Forum (ISF) enthusiastically organized a "Bug Hunt: Circuit Analyzing" in the ECE
Department, Excel Engineering College, on March 19, 2024.

participants, were present to ensure the program's success. Ms. A. Anitharani, Assistant Professor of ECE,
welcomed all the respected dignitaries and highlighted the ISF aspect.

Mrs. R. Puspavathi, Professor of ECE, appreciated the efforts of the department conducting this event and
emphasized the benefits of students’s participation in such events to develop their technical knowledge.

A total of 55 participants participated in and profited from this event.

 4.5.2. Publication of technical magazines, newsletters, etc. (5)

The ECE News newsletter is published quarterly by the Department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering, aiming to keep students, faculty, and alumni informed about the latest happenings in the
department. It covers a wide range of topics including:

 Current Events: Updates on departmental events such as seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and
student activities.
 Placements & Training: Information on placement drives, internships, and training programs that
prepare students for careers in the electronics and communication industries.
 Higher Education Opportunities: Insights and guidance on pursuing advanced studies, including
scholarships, graduate programs, and other academic opportunities.

In addition to the quarterly newsletter, the department also releases an Annual Magazine, which features a
diverse collection of:

 Technical and Non-Technical Articles: Contributions from students and faculty, showcasing
research, innovations, and various academic topics.
 Literature and Art: Creative works, including poems, short stories, and artwork by students,
offering a platform for artistic expression.

The publication of the magazine and newsletter serves as a vital tool in enhancing students' technical skills
while encouraging their holistic development. It also helps them stay informed about the latest industry
trends and become better prepared for their professional careers. Through these initiatives, the department
fosters both academic and extracurricular growth, helping students cultivate industry readiness.
