HRMT 622: Talent Management

Introduction
First, I enjoyed the Indigo assessment tool throughout my MBA program at UCW, which
allowed me to expose my entire SWOT analysis along with my communication style, skills,
capabilities, talent, and motivators. As far as I am concerned, these principles will help me
achieve more success by overcoming such critical hurdles and strengthening my weak regions
not only in academic standards but also in general survival. Indigo Assessment helps me to
understand that I should be fit for the organization and the position along with excellence level
and development requirements. It also helps me to get a professional path to develop my career.
In short, the Indigo Assessment is a comprehensive assessment for students and teachers
that focuses on self-awareness, job preparedness, and social-emotional perspectives. In
collaboration with TTI, it provides three versions beginning with the fifth-grade reading level,
which are utilized in career counseling, personality testing, and classroom dashboards. (Indigo,
2020)
This report is composed of three parts: Part A, describes my DISC style, with an
emphasis on my talents and capacities, as well as driving factors and motivators. Part B talks
about the characteristics that influence my career and how to improve them for future success.
Part C talks about future planning and the necessity to overcome obstacles and qualities. In the
end, my goal is to attain objectives more quickly and effectively using evaluation and assessment
tools. The report underlines the value of personal growth and development in reaching
professional objectives.
Part A
DISC Style
DISC stands for Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Compliance. Dominance requires
high self-esteem, extroverts, and dedication. Influence is optimistic, open-minded, and loyal.
Consistent collaboration, honesty, and devotion are all required for stability. Compliance is about
adhering to a code of behavior and being capable of accomplishing responsibilities. These
notions have various meanings. (DiSC Profile, n.d.)
I agree with the assessment and my top three skills are Decision Making, Futuristic
Thinking, and Goal Orientation. Decision-making skills stress detailed, timely decision-making,
which includes acquiring relevant information, analyzing the impact, responding decisively,
updating judgments, presenting reasons, systematizing information, taking into account historical
components, and asking the proper questions. Futuristic Thinking helps me to imagine and
project future events, using foresight and intuition to forecast trends and foster a culture of
forward-thinking, as well as recognizing and advocating innovative ideas. Goal Orientation skill
helps me in Setting, pursuing, and achieving objectives that involve instinctual action, effort, and
dedication. It entails identifying possibilities, devising strategies, assessing effectiveness, and
taking measured risks.
The top Driving Forces under this assessment are Resourceful, Instinctive, and Objective.
Resourceful helps me to optimize returns on time, skill, and energy, seek out opportunities that
promote efficiency and practicality, avoid uniform pay scales, and focus on practical results.
Instinctive helps me to pursue activities that leverage real-time learning and prior experience to
address urgent requirements, rather than occupations that need considerable study and theoretical
understanding. The objective factor helps me to pursue practical activities aimed at generating
usable things while avoiding organizations that place a high value on aesthetics and appearance.
In the end, the top primary motivators are loyalty and consistency in using the resources
allocated, good at selling reliable known products and services to people, and leading by
example and quietly and methodically.
My awareness of the results of this assessment is understanding my motives, actions, and
preferred working methods allows me to make more informed decisions regarding my
profession, relationships, and personal development. It improves self-awareness, professional
alignment, communication, personal growth, and decision-making, allowing me to navigate life
with purpose and effectiveness, realizing my full potential and attaining success. (Perry, 2022)
With the help of this assessment, I will accept flexibility, prioritize cooperation, seek
feedback, commit to continual learning, establish clear goals, and engage in self-reflection. I
want to react to changing situations, get feedback, and keep current on industry trends. By
employing these tactics, I can foster a balanced attitude toward work and life. I can identify
strengths in resourcefulness, efficiency, future thinking, and strategic planning. Weaknesses
include flexibility and adaptation, as well as collaboration and teamwork. Focusing on these
areas can improve personal and professional success by harmonizing objectives and values.
I would like to share my professional experience. I am a business lawyer, thus I believe I
should be resourceful and prepare ahead for my work. I recall being assigned a case involving a
criminal violation in the corporate sector. At the time, I had no criminal law expertise, but I
signed this case to get additional understanding. This represents my goal-orientation ability and
instinctual element. In the initial phase, I had difficulty gathering evidence and precedents for
court pleading; nevertheless, because of my abilities, I learned new things rapidly and acquired
all of the material readily. Finally, I was victorious in this case, and I am now well-versed in
criminal matters, which will develop my professional career in diversified areas.
Part B
Characteristics that influence my career
My ambition is to be the top lawyer in North America, which will benefit my career. My
career route requires resourcefulness, efficiency, forward-thinking, teamwork, and adaptability.
Resourcefulness is vital in problem-solving and innovation roles, whereas futuristic thinking
helps foresee market shifts and establish lofty objectives. In my field, I require collaboration and
teamwork, which develops a culture of cooperation and innovation. Finally, flexibility is critical
in dynamic industries, allowing for rapid adjustments and accepting change.
My success has been mostly due to my decision-making abilities and resourcefulness. As
a lawyer, making decisions is crucial. When the opposing counsel makes counter-arguments
during the court pleading, I must be ready to defend my client against them. Laws are highly
intricate and always changing, therefore I must study each new update and understand them
logically. Resourcefulness will help me absorb any new regulations and legislation, allowing me
to better understand client challenges. (David Cosgrave, n.d.)
Part C
Future planning
To build my future, I must design an action plan to improve my weaknesses. The action
plan outlines how I can encourage flexibility, cooperation, lifelong learning, self-reflection, and a
growth mindset. It include collaborating on cross-functional efforts, accepting change, soliciting
feedback, improving communication skills, attending team-building activities, and volunteering
for group projects. It also suggests setting learning objectives, attending workshops, and finding
further information. The technique also emphasizes constant reflection, maintaining a learning
journal, and seeking guidance. I expect that by following these practices, they will be more
effective, perform better, and achieve more success in their corporate legal careers. (Kozlowski,
S. W. J., & Ilgen, D. R.)
I need to develop my communication skills to work effectively in a team. According to
the Tuckman Model, psychologist Bruce Tuckman in 1965, provided a framework for studying
group formation and evolution which consists of five stages: formation, storming, norming,
performance, and adjourning. The forming stage involves group members developing
connections and understanding their duties, whereas the storming stage involves confrontations
and the establishment of a social status hierarchy. The norming stage entails developing and
upholding unwritten standards, whereas the performance stage emphasizes goal achievement and
effective communication. (Top Hat, n.d.)

I may influence my teams through a number of means, including coaching, cooperation,
dispute resolution, power reduction, and organizational commitment. (Top Hat, n.d.)
I have to identify the resignation factors in my team where people leave their positions
due to five factors: retirement, relocation, hesitation, reconsideration, and reshuffling. Retirement
is an important consideration, as Baby Boomers near retirement age. The epidemic has increased
people's reluctance to work remotely, and work-life balance is being reviewed. (Top Hat, n.d.)
Further, my working environment should be solid and predictable, with high-contact
assignments, focusing on the organization's bottom line, loyalty, long-term connections, and
possibilities for excitement and enjoyment. I have to adjust my potential challenges including
feeling rushed, valuing unwarranted change, allowing criticism to frustrate them, having strong
opinions but not always sharing them, overestimating contributions, failing to recognize the
increased risk associated with higher rewards, struggling with constructive criticism, and
potentially disclosing their agenda to the wrong people.
I have various distractions that might affect my performance and time management.
These distractions include routines, reluctance to change, failing to explain roles to management,
and putting off unpleasant work. Established routines, security, and intolerance to change can all
contribute to the development of habits. Resisting change might be motivated by a need for
security, a desire to retain the status quo or a particular component of a proposed change.
Uncertainty about duties, fear of being perceived, and a desire to work as part of a team can all
influence time management. Routine changes, rewards for successes, and embracing pain are all
possible solutions.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Indigo assessment has given me great insights into my personality
traits, talents, and opportunities for development. It has helped me better grasp my job goals and
professional growth. As a corporate lawyer, I value learning, change, communication, and a
growth mentality. I utilize the Tuckman Model to understand team dynamics and identify
potential reasons for resignation. This assignment encourages me to make proactive efforts
toward personal and professional development.
