RIGHT OF WAY

SELF HELP KIT

This document is meant to simply the concept of Right Of Way, once and for all. It will
explore the basic rules, important signs and explain all questions in the book.

Basic Rules

1. If you are at a junction where the roads are of equal importance (A four way for
example), the traffic on your right has right of way and the traffic on your left waits
for you.
2. If you are approaching a T junction, the traffic already on the road you are joining
has right of way. This means any traffic on the road ending at the junction must
wait for the other traffic to pass before turning left or right.
3. If you are turning right at a junction, the traffic coming straight (oncoming traffic)
through the junction has right of way.
4. If you plan to turn right at a junction and an oncoming vehicle wants to turn into
the same road, the vehicle that is turning left has right of way. If yours is the
vehicle turning right, you must wait for the other vehicle to turn first.

Signs controlling Right Of Way

If you see a ‘Stop’ sign, you must stop If you see a ‘Yield’ sign or yield line you
at the sign or at the stop line on the must slow down, but you do not have
