Introduction

Silicon Valley giants like Google and Facebook became part of everyday life in the 2000s, but most
users remain ignorant about what enables these platforms to be “free”. While online privacy has been
catapulted to the forefront after events like the Cambridge Analytica exposé in 2018, Terms and
Conditions May Apply delved into this topic in 2013. The documentary looks at how corporations and
governments learn about consumers from their Internet and phone usage.

1. I was really engaged with the documentary; I can say that it really is a thought-provoking
documentary because of its contents and the issues it tackles like the impact of online terms and
conditions to our privacy and personal data. The film really piqued my interest since it raises questions
that are very important like "are we willing to risk our privacy and personal data, just for a easier and
more convenient online service?". Overall, I can say that it is really engaging and really captivating
especially because I'm an IT student and it tackles one of our main focus the technology and the
security of our digital age.

2. "Terms and Conditions May Apply" is a documentary that follows a traditional documentary format.
It is not a reality show or a presenter-based show, nor is it presented from "God's point of view". The
format of the documentary allows for a more in-depth exploration of the topic, which is essential given
the complexity of the issues surrounding online privacy and personal data.

The traditional documentary format is the most suited for this type of content as it allows the creators
to provide a balanced and nuanced view of the issue. By featuring a range of sources and interviewees,
