WELCOMING ADDRESS
Dearly Beloved
EVANGELISM WEEKEND 2025
It is with great joy in my heart that I welcome everyone to this year's Evangelism
Weekend with the theme "EVANGELISM AS A SPIRITUAL WEAPON, 2
CORINTHIANS 10:4-6".
This theme came as an inspiration from the message of the last Holy Ghost Congress
with the Theme "ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIER”.
The proclamation and sharing of good news started in Heaven, The seat of God, Rev.
12:11. Psalm 96:3 instruct everybody to “Declare His glory among the Nations, His
marvelous works among all the Peoples!” It underscores the Global Mission of
evangelism and the call to proclaim God's works.
As believers in Christ, we're engaged in spiritual warfare every day, and one of the
strategies our Lord and Saviour enjoined us to use in recruiting other soldiers into this
warfare is evangelism.
In the light of this, we are focusing on the Theme "Evangelism As A Spiritual Weapon."
I trust God that this Weekend will be full of many spiritual activities that will enrich our
lives and redirect our focus to the fact that we're in a spiritual warfare.
I pray the Lord bless you richly and help us reach our goals.
Happy Weekend.

COUNSELING: A POWERFUL BACKUP FOR EVANGELISM SPIRITUAL
WARFARE
TEXT: PROVERBS 20:18; 24:6
Proverbs 20:18 KJV, “Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice
make war.”
Proverbs 24:6 KJV: “For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of
counsellors there is safety.”
Introduction
Life is warfare and so is anything that concerns life, like Counselling. Fruitful soul-
winning and Counselling entail serious warfare. (Job 14:1; John16:33;1Tim 6:12;
2Tim 4:7).
The December 2024 Congress theme implies so much. With the theme Onward Christian
Soldiers, there is surely no retreat and no surrender in purposeful soul-winning activities
and church planting, particularly that the Lord has declared through our Father in the
Lord, Pastor E. A. Adeboye, that this year is a Landmark year. The Lord Himself has
made this idea of no retreat, no surrender very clear right from the onset when He has
declared: “....I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
(Matt 16:18).
Given the commitment of the RCCG to the attainment of Vision 2032, all hands must be
on deck and all departments, including Counselling, should commit to the goal of ever
increasing and unrelenting soul-winning.
Wise or godly counsel is quite needful for victorious living and strategic exploits (Pro
20:18; 24:6). The Christian Soldier’s armour for victorious onslaught against the enemy
is not complete without biblical Counselling, from the word which is the sword of the
Spirit (Pro 15:22; Eph 6:17).
The Place of Counselling. The counsel of God’s word is the strategic armour required by
every Christian soldier. It is what the Lord gave to Joshua for his victory and success in
life and ministry.
This was after the death of Moses, when Joshua had felt grossly inadequate in assuming
the leadership of the children of Israel into the promised land – (Jos 1:1-9).
4
Good counsel from the Lord is a vital armour for every Christian soldier’s assured safety,
victory and success. The souls that are won must be nurtured, established, strengthened
and mobilized by the Lord's counsel. This is more so in this year that the Lord has
declared a Landmark year through his son, Pastor E. A. Adeboye because the enemy
would not relent in doing evil (John 10:10).
The counsel of God is indispensable for guidance and direction in righteousness
by the Holy Spirit– (Rom 1:16-17)
It is what authenticates one as being a member of the family of God (Rom 8:14).
Salvation Is By Grace.
Fruitful evangelism or effective preaching of the gospel that results in salvation is not and
should not be by power and might. It should be the work or product of the grace of our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through prayer and Counselling. (Zec 4:6; Rom 5:17-18;
Eph 2:8-10).
Counselling Backup For Evangelism And Spiritual Warfare.
Prayer is key: The work is not carnal; you cannot employ carnal instruments or
strategies to get satisfying and enduring results. You should always pray for those
engaged in Evangelism and outreach activities. (Phil 4:6)
There is need for more hands: The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few;
we are to pray the Lord of the harvest to send in more labourers (Luke 10:2)
The Lord’s Company and Power Needed: This is required to fruitfully engage
in the work of counselling and establishing the souls won. You need to solicit the
Lord’s partnership, wisdom and anointing in prayer – (John 15:5; Phil 4:6; 1Thes
5:17)
Word Study: Study the word for effective engagement – Col 3:16; 1Tim 4:13;
2Tim 2:15.
Take Authority: Always commit the hearts of men being counselled and the place
or area being evangelised into God’s hands (Pro 21:1). Take authority and subdue
all territorial powers and principalities that may be poised to hinder the work of
Evangelism and Counselling by hardening the hearts of the people not to be
receptive to preaching and Godly counsel. (2Cor 10:3-5).
Domain Knowledge: Be familiar with the Evangelism/Counselling field you are
operating in. Paul disclosed his experience in Athens in this regard. (Pro 27:23;
Acts 17:22-27).
Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit: Be very observant and watchful of the conduct
and attitude of the counselee. (2Tim 4:5)
Follow-up Needed for Good Results: Paul diligently followed up his converts
with commitment. He wrote or sent messages to them. (Acts 15:36; 17:2; 1Cor
16:5,12).

Conclusion
Arm-chair Counselling is not to be encouraged or embraced. Every counsellor should see
himself/herself as a true Christian Soldier who should work diligently in pursuing Vision
2032 through aggressive, spiritual and innovative counselling, coupled with fervent
prayers and regular follow up, as soldiers of Christ that we are.

MISSIONS
Missions As a Weapon of Spiritual Warfare
Introduction
Psalm 74:20 says have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full
of the habitations of cruelty. When Satan deceived Adam and Eve in the garden he subtly
extended his kingdom to nations of the world. The concept of missions as a weapon of
spiritual warfare emphasizes the critical role of the church and its outreach efforts in
advancing God’s kingdom and confronting the forces of darkness particularly in
unreached territories. The Missions strategy is to combat spiritual oppression, establish
God’s will, and bring transformation to lives, communities, and nations of the world.
Spiritual warfare and missions intersect in the following ways:
Missions require spiritual warfare to be successful because we are engaging in a
battle with the enemy’s territory. Dan. 10:13
Spiritual warfare is necessary to overcome the spiritual strongholds that hinder the
spread of the gospel message. 2 Cor 4:4
Missions help expose the enemy’s tactics by sharing the gospel message, which
can bring light to people’s lives. Joh 1:5
Prayer is a critical aspect of both spiritual warfare and missions. Prayer is essential
as it empowers missionaries and helps them overcome obstacles they may face. Ps
2:8
It is essential to be equipped with knowledge about spiritual warfare and missions to
fulfill the Great Commission wholeheartedly
The Significance of Spiritual Warfare in Missions
Understanding spiritual warfare and its significance in missions is critical for every
missionary. Missions involve more than physical work. It requires spiritual preparedness
and the ability to discern the spirit behind the different challenges that may arise.
The Impact of Spiritual Warfare on Missions
Advancing the Kingdom of God
Missions is designed to fulfill the Great Commission, where Jesus commanded His
followers to go into all the world and preach the Gospel (Matthew 28:19-20). By
proclaiming the message of salvation, missions displace spiritual darkness with the light
of Christ, extending God’s kingdom into territories previously dominated by sin and
bondage.
Breaking Strongholds
8
Spiritual strongholds often manifest as cultural, social, or personal barriers that hinder
people from experiencing the truth of the Gospel. Missionary efforts, through prayer,
teaching, and discipleship, challenge these strongholds by:
Confronting idolatry and false beliefs.
Offering deliverance through the power of Christ.
Equipping individuals with biblical truth to overcome lies and deception (2
Corinthians 10:4-5).
Transforming Lives Through Evangelism
The Gospel carries transformative power, turning hearts from sin to righteousness.
Missionaries act as God’s instruments, bringing spiritual liberation to individuals trapped
in cycles of addiction, despair, or demonic oppression. As people encounter Christ, their
testimonies become a ripple effect that influences families, communities, and even
nations.
Engaging in Strategic Intercession
Prayer is a vital component of missions, serving as the frontline of spiritual warfare.
Missionaries and their supporters engage in fervent intercession to:
Break spiritual resistance in unreached areas.
Bind demonic forces that oppose the spread of the Gospel.
Seek divine guidance, protection, and provision for their efforts (Ephesians 6:18).
Demonstrating the Love of Christ
Acts of love and service, such as providing education, healthcare, and humanitarian aid,
are powerful tools in missions. These actions reveal God’s compassion and open doors
for spiritual conversations. Demonstrating love undermines the works of the enemy, who
thrives on division, hatred, and suffering.
Training and Discipleship
Discipleship is central to missions and spiritual warfare. Training new believers to
understand and apply God’s Word equips them to stand firm against the enemy’s
schemes. Disciples become warriors of faith, advancing God’s agenda in their
communities and making more disciples (2 Timothy 2:2).
Overcoming Persecution
Missions often occur in hostile environments where Christians face persecution. Yet,
through perseverance and faith, missionaries testify to God’s power and inspire others to
stand firm. The blood of the martyrs has historically been the seed of the church, as God’s
glory shines even in suffering. Acts 12:1-5
Proclaiming Victory in Christ
Ultimately, missions declare the victory that Christ has already won over sin, death, and
the devil. By preaching the Gospel, missionaries affirm that the power of the cross is
9
greater than any opposition, and they invite all people to partake in this victory
(Colossians 2:15).
Real-Life Examples Of Successful Spiritual Warfare In Missions
Breaking drug addiction in India: In India, a Christian missionary team came across a
village infested with substance abuse problems. They used the power of prayer and God’s
word to break the chain of addiction. Overtime, there was a significant
transformation: People started forming life groups and gathering to study the word of
God.
Defeating witchcraft in Africa: A team of missionaries was evangelizing in East Africa,
and they discovered that people had deep-rooted beliefs in witchcraft. They confronted
the situation with prayer, fasting, and teaching the word of God. With time, people started
understanding that they didn’t have to rely on the spirits of nature; they could rely on the
Almighty God. There was a significant decrease in the prevalence of witchcraft in the
region.
Breaking generational curses in South America: In many remote Amazonian tribes,
there are deep-seated curses that date back generations. A team of missionaries came in
and taught the indigenous people about Jesus Christ and the power of his blood. They
showed them that through faith and prayer, they could break the chains of generational
curses. Slowly but surely, they began to see transformations in individual personal lives,
families, and even entire villages.
Transformation in some communities of West Africa: The outreach arm of The
Redeemed Christian Church of God Central Missions Board took the gospel to some
communities in Ogun State, Nigeria. Initially the indigenes were deep rooted in idolatry
but with the power of gospel and the teaching of the word of God, their lives were
transformed. Presently there are churches in many communities.
Conclusion
Missions is a divine strategy for spiritual warfare, enabling the church to push back the
forces of darkness and establish God’s kingdom on earth. Through evangelism, prayer,
discipleship, and acts of love, missions empower believers to fight spiritual battles and
bring lasting transformation to individuals and communities. As the body of Christ rises
to the call of missions, the world will witness the ultimate triumph of God’s light over
darkness.

CRFI
LEVERAGING ON SPIRITUAL WARFARE TO WIN THE SOULS OF THE
HIGH AND MIGHTY
TEXT: Isaiah 49:24-25 “Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive
delivered? [25] But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken
away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that
contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children”.
Introduction
All souls are equally important to God, but there is a class of people referred to as the
high and mighty in every nation that is difficult to reach through day-to-evangelism. In
every society, this class of people is referred to as the high and mighty or the critical mass
or very important and influential personalities. They occupy the executive and policy
making positions in both the public and private sectors. Satan understands that
evangelizing such men and women has a multiplier effect in soul winning. The devil is
therefore hell bent on keeping such souls bound in darkness by frustrating every effort to
reach them with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
To rescue souls from the grips of Satan involves fierce spiritual battles. God assures us in
Isaiah 49:24-25 that the souls spiritually bound can be delivered. This can be achieved
through out-of-the-box evangelism leveraging on spiritual warfare. Pastor Enoch Adejare
Adeboye received a vision from the Almighty God on reaching men and women in the
middle and upper echelons of every society world wide with the gospel of Jesus Christ,
using the believers within the middle and upper echelons of the society. This is one of the
purposes for which God called him to full time ministry. To pursue this vision, he
established an interdenominational platform called CHRIST THE REDEEMER'S
FRIENDS INTERNATIONAL (CRFI), also known as FRIENDS INTERNATIONAL.
Friends International uses an out-of-the-box evangelism strategy of organizing well
packaged outreach programs in cozy hotels and such pleasant environments that are
natural habitat to the high and mighty. As focused and insightful as this strategy is, it
requires a dose of spiritual warfare to achieve its objectives.
What is Spiritual Warfare?
Spiritual warfare refers to battles against evil spiritual forces, primarily Satan and his
demons (Eph 6:12), who actively try to keep people in darkness in order to hinder them
from freedom to follow God and live a righteous life. Such spiritual forces are
coordinated in their determined efforts to frustrate evangelism targeted at rescuing souls,
especially the souls of the high and mighty in every society. Spiritual warfare and
11
evangelism therefore re-enforce each other in a bid to ward off darkness and enthrone the
light of Jesus Christ across the nations of the world.
How to Leverage on Spiritual Warfare to Evangelize the High and Mighty
1. Believers Must Submit and Resist. One of the key Scriptures on spiritual warfare is
James 4:7 which says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will
flee from you”. To submit to God is to let your light shine as demanded of believers in
Matthew 5:14-16. When a believer’s light is shining, his life of holiness, integrity,
humility, godliness and unalloyed love of God is not in doubt. His shining light endears
him to all and sundry, including the high and mighty who come across the believer. Such
a believer submits everything that concerns him to God, while fiercely resisting the devil
on all fronts. The result is that the believer enjoys a victorious lifestyle and is armed
powerfully enough to do great exploits, including soul winning of the high and mighty.
2. Ceaseless Warfare Prayers for Christian Outreaches. One mighty weapon that God
has placed in our spiritual arsenal is prayer. Without prayers to counter satanic forces
deployed against all manners of evangelism, any outreach or even one-on-one evangelism
may end up in failure no matter the financial resources invested in it. Recall the encounter
of Apostle Paul and Barnabas in Acts 13 with a certain sorcerer (Elymas also known as
Bar-Jesus) at Paphos in Cyprus with Sergius Paulus, the Roman Proconsul (Deputy of the
country). Paul was preaching Christ to Sergius (a highly placed political leader), but
Elymas the sorcerer was resisting him. “But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by
interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith” (Acts
13:8). Saul called him an enemy of all righteousness that perverts the right ways of the
Lord. Paul resorted to spiritual warfare by striking the sorcerer with blindness. Satan is
always at work to stop every good work of depopulating the Kingdom of Darkness.
Believers must not only be reactive but proactive through spiritual warfare to stop Satan
in his tracks. When Friends International chapters organize outreaches, they must back up
every beat of their planning and execution phases with sustained warfare prayers.
3. Ceaseless Warfare Prayers to Enthrone Believers on Positions of Prominence. The
security guard in a multinational company is easily available and approachable by any
believer who is on evangelism. If he gives his life to Jesus, he will be able to bring his
family and may be other security guards and cleaners to Christ. This is fantastic.
Compare this with the MD/CEO of the same company. Reaching him for evangelism is
very difficult because he is overprotected by layers of security and protocols. However, a
believer in a position of prominence in the same company, whose light of Jesus is shining
for all to see (Matthew 5:14-16) has a good chance of reaching the MD/CEO with the
gospel of Jesus Christ. If the MD/CEO repents, almost the entire staff of the company
will be positively impacted for Jesus. A Christian Fellowship may even spring up in the
company. The implication is that winning the souls of the high and mighty has a force
12
multiplier effect on populating the Kingdom of God. Therefore, the body of Christ ought
to travail in continuous warfare prayer to have believers in positions of prominence in
both public and private sectors.
4. Enforce God’s Promise on Prosperity of the Righteous through Spiritual Warfare.
God has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant (Psalm 35:27). Servants of God should
therefore prosper because “money answereth all things” (Eccl 10:19), including
evangelising the high and mighty. For instance, organizing outreaches in cozy hotels is
one of the out-of-the-box evangelism strategies used by Friends International, but it is
very expensive in cash. Members of Friends International pool resources together to foot
such bills. For this kind of program to go on as frequently as required, there is need for
enforcement of their prosperity through sustained prayer and fasting. This is because
Satan will do everything possible to attack their sources of income in order to halt or
diminish their financial ability to support such outreaches. As a Kingdom treasurer, you
must not be ignorant of the devices of the enemy. You must continuously engage in
warfare concerning your businesses and finances, calling on God who gives power to
make wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). The prosperity of the righteous through relentless
prayers will guarantee the momentum on diverse programs to deliver the souls of the high
and mighty from the grips of Satan.
Conclusion
The Parable of the Rich Fool in Lk 12:13-21 gives us an insightful understanding of how
the rich people who do not have Jesus Christ in their lives think. Their riches are their
gods. Only the gospel of Jesus Christ can change this destructive mindset. Therefore, no
effort should be spared in deploying spiritual warfare to evangelize the high and mighty
in every society in all the nations of the world.

DIRECTORATE OF EVANGELISM
THE ROLE OF EVANGELISM AS A SPIRITUAL WEAPON.
TEXT: Ephesians 6:17 and 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.
Introduction
The scriptures from Ephesians 6:17 and 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 emphasize the spiritual
nature of the believer's life. As children of God, we are spiritual soldiers engaged in
spiritual warfare. This warfare requires the use of spiritual armor and weapons to combat
forces against God's kingdom.
What is Evangelism?
Evangelism, as a spiritual weapon, transcends traditional definitions. It focuses on the
rescue and reconciliation of souls through the Gospel.
1. Evangelism is the act of rescuing souls through the proclamation of the Gospel,
liberating them from spiritual bondage.
2. Evangelism involves shining God's light to dispel darkness, making God’s power
prevail over the forces of the devil.
3. Evangelism is the fulfillment of the Great Commission, calling all believers to preach
the Gospel to every creature as stated in Mark 16:15.
What is a Weapon?
In general, a weapon is:
1. A tool or an instrument used for a specific purpose,
2. An instrument of attack (offensive) or defense (preventive), and
3. A means to fight and prevail over an opponent.
A spiritual weapon, therefore, is an invisible tool empowered by God, used for defending
against spiritual attacks, attacking and destroying the works of darkness, securing victory,
and promoting spiritual growth.
Outline 3: How Evangelism Functions as a Spiritual Weapon
1. Through evangelism, the people of Samaria received the Word, experienced
deliverance from sorcery, and were filled with great joy, as seen in Acts 8:1-14.
14
2. Evangelism liberated the madman of Gadara from a legion of demons, transforming
him into a testimony of God’s power, as recorded in Mark 5:1-15.
3. Evangelism restored the Samaritan woman, delivering her from a life of marital
instability and leading her to share the Good News. This is seen in John 4:14-29 and
verse 39.
4. Through evangelism, the Gentile world was freed from idol worship and turned to the
living God, as seen in Acts 14:5-18.
5. Evangelism reconciles sinners to God, making peace between humanity and its
Creator, as seen in 2 Corinthians 5:17-20.
6. Evangelism triumphs over opposition to God's kingdom, as demonstrated in Paul’s
ministry, 1 Corinthians 16:9.
7. Evangelism is accompanied by miraculous signs, fulfilling God's promise that His
power will confirm the preaching of His Word, as referenced in Mark 16:15-18 and Acts
19:11-20.
Conclusion
As Christian soldiers, we are called to be equipped with the weapon of Evangelism to
rescue souls and reconcile them to God. This spiritual duty fulfills God's mandate,
strengthens His kingdom, and ultimately leads to the Crown of Rejoicing, as seen in 1
Thessalonians 2:19.
Evangelism is more than an activity; it is a Divine Mission and a Spiritual Tool for
advancing God's Kingdom. Let us rise to the challenge and actively participate in this
noble cause, bringing the lost to salvation and fulfilling the vision of expanding Christ’s
Kingdom.
