"waitress" (if female), but you can also just call them a "server." Basically, waitering means
helping people have a good experience at a place where they eat.

1.2 Role and Responsibilities

 A waiter’s job is all about making sure customers have a great experience at a restaurant.
 They start by greeting customers as they enter, showing them to their table, and giving them
menus.
 After taking the order, the waiter makes sure the kitchen prepares the food and drinks
correctly, then brings the items to the table in a timely and polite manner.
 Throughout the meal, the waiter checks if customers need anything, like more drinks or
condiments, and makes sure everything is okay.
 Once the meal is finished, the waiter clears the table, cleans it for the next guests, and brings
the bill when requested.
 They also handle payments, ensuring the process is smooth and correct.
 Waiters work closely with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure orders are delivered quickly and
properly.
 They often suggest menu items to enhance the dining experience.

things clearly.

and try to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
 Good customer service also means being patient and treating every customer with respect.

2.2 Strong Communication Skills.

 A waiter needs to listen carefully when customers give their orders, especially if they have special
requests (like no onions or a certain temperature for their steak.).
 They also need to speak clearly when asking questions or giving information, so customers
understand what’s being offered.
 If a customer has any questions about the menu, the waiter should be able to explain things easily
and suggest dishes if needed.

 Timing is key, make sure the food is served at the right temperature, as customers expect it to be
hot and fresh.
 If there's a delay, let them know in advance so they aren't waiting without an update.
 Presentation matters too—serve the food neatly and cleanly, and always check that the plate is
free from any smudges or crumbs.
 To make the experience smoother, serve food from the customer’s left side and drinks from the
right side. This method looks professional and makes it easier for the customer to enjoy their
meal.

 If you can’t resolve the problem yourself, inform a manager and ask for their help.
 Always try to handle the situation politely and professionally, as it can help turn a bad experience
into a positive one for the customer.

accidents or slips.
 Make sure all equipment like trays, utensils, and glasses are in good condition and free from
damage.
 When lifting heavy items, use proper lifting techniques to avoid injury, and if something is too
heavy, ask for help.
 Always follow your restaurant’s safety guidelines and report any hazards, like broken equipment
or spills, to a manager immediately.

smile and make them feel welcome right away. Listen carefully to their orders and make sure you get all
the details right. Always check in with customers during their meal to make sure they’re happy and offer
to refill drinks or bring anything else they need. Be quick but not rushed—timing matters, so try to serve
food and drinks at the right moment. Stay organized so you can handle multiple tables without forgetting
anything. Keep a positive attitude, even if things get busy or stressful. If a customer has a problem, stay
