Addressing
• Every peripheral must be configured with a unique address
– This address must match the address configured in ConfigPro for the
peripheral
– Addresses for the peripherals on the first D.20 Link set of a vertical slot
D200 and on all D20s are even parity
– Addresses for peripherals on the second D.20 Link set of a vertical slot
D200 are odd parity
• Addresses are configured using an eight bit jumper on the Westerm
• See module layout drawing associated with your peripheral for details on
the jumpers.

Peripherals - Overview

Addressing – cont.
Four Step Procedure
• Assuming you are trying to address the fifth peripheral in the system
1. Convert the peripheral number to binary
• 5d = 101b
2. Place the decimal number in a set of 8 bits
• Shifting all bits 1 left leaving the LSB Blank
• 0000 101_
3. If the number of high (1) bits is even make the LSB a 0, if the number of high
(1) bits is odd make the LSB a 1
• 0000 101_ shows 2 high (1) bits
4. 0000 1010 is the address for the fifth peripheral

D20 External Peripheral Power

• There is no power on the D.20 Link with the Vertical Chassis
• Power must come externally
• The same board variation is used with the GIF fibre
connected Peripherals
• Another external board acts as the power supply
– The external board takes in 20 – 60 VDC
– The peripherals connect via the regular D.20 Link

Wesmaint Issues
• Is the D20 running?
– Check the LEDs on the front of the unit. If there are some
LEDs on then Wesmaint should be accessible. If all LEDs
are off then there is no power to the board.
– Check that the power supply is on and wired properly. Use
a volt meter to check the voltage on the front of the power
supply. Does it register +5V, +12V and +48V respectively.
• Is a Wesmaint cable (977-0048) being used to connect the
PC's communication port to the Wesmaint port on the RTU?

Wesmaint Issues – cont.

• Are the terminal emulator serial settings correct?
– Baud Rate: 9600
– Data: 8 bit
– Parity: none
– Stop: 1 bit
– Flow Control: Xon/Xoff
• If this doesn’t work, re-boot the D20/D200 and check if the
bootup sequence is visible on the Wesmaint screen.

Peripheral Boards
• Are any LEDs on?
– If the LEDs are not on, then power is not reaching the board. Check
that the D.20 link cable (997-0089) is connected to the correct port on
the D20/D200 and the correct port on the peripheral board.
– If the LEDs are on, then remove the Wesdac board and check that the
address jumpers match the configuration.
The order that the peripheral boards are linked together on the D.20 Link does
not need to correspond to the addressing of the peripheral boards. For
example, the fourth peripheral board could be the first in the D.20 link but it still
needs the fourth address setting.
