AUGUST 2023 MONTHLY REPORT

The month of August has been full of activities, largely because schools have been closed. Some
of the activities like Y-summit, Parish Hike and debate among others have been highlighted
below. We are eternally grateful to God for the success of all these activities.
MEDIA
The Instagram bible study kicked off well and has kept going on with an average attendance of
15. The weekly recordings for Sunday school have also continued promptly. The weekly
devotions that are done by our Youth Pastor are also continuing well.
PRAYERS AND BIBLE STUDY MINISTRY
Weekly prayer fellowships have continued seamlessly with a successful prayer and fasting day
on the 8th of August.
The Bible study sessions continue still in the book of Colossians. We culminated Colossians 1
with clarity from our youth chaplain Rev. Tolno.
We also did a successful bible study group leaders training for 10 people.
This month’s kesha will be on 1st September.
SAFE
We did finalize our sessions on Friendships in the month of August. This new month we are
prepared to start outreach to the new incumbent students at universities and colleges. We are
looking at several of them, about 6 institutions in total. We are truly grateful for the support the
session has offered for us to be able to accomplish this outreach in response to the great call.
Due to rising cases of Mental Health concerns we would like to have an event/session dubbed
‘Healed’. This is geared towards an artistic and expressional way of embracing the healing of
mental illnesses. We would like to have Kubamba worship team to lead our worship on that day.
We hope that this will make known St Andrew’s more to other people and youth ministry as
well.
SPORTS
We had a successful hike with an attendance of 33. The Kibera Outreach Team is doing well
with outreach taking place from Sunday to Sunday. We look forward to the weekend challenge at
Mount Kenya Academy in Nyeri on the 15th October 2023.
In the month of September, we look forward to having kids’ games in Ngundu Kamulu area.
FISHERS
We did our ‘home service’ at arboretum on the 13th of August, a teen’s hangout, and mentorship
session on Saturday 19th August in Lavington and a back to school coupled up with Tabby’s
farewell in the Old Church.
One of the major challenges were mobilizing parents to release/ bring their children for the
events especially for the first two. We thank God for the attendance and his help in getting
venues.
HOSPITALITY
We had a successful Birthday Sunday. We also visited one of our members in Ngong.
DEBATER’S CLARITY
We were able by God’s Grace to hold our debate this month. We have however, had constraints
with time and are looking to overhaul the format to better serve the needs we seek to address. So
much gratitude to the Session for the continued support this far.
YAM
We have had successful fortnight fellowships. We do thank God for helping us know him more
through the discussions. We hope to visit a children’s home in Gilgil this September 30th.
DISCIPLESHIP
We have had successful Sunday sessions with the current cohort. We will be having believers’
breakfast on 2nd September in the church to see the progress away from the class since we are
midway through the program. We are also very grateful for the session and the youth office for
the support so far.
FORMULAE ONE (F1)
The sessions for August continued well. We hope to do a bowling hangout at Sarit Center for an
estimated attendance of 30.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
FAREWELL:
This month we did farewell for the Interns and Ms. Tabby Kimani during the youth services. We
are grateful for the support towards this initiative.
Y-SUMMIT:
The Y Summit 2023 brought together 2300 youth from all the five regions of the Presbyterian
Church of East Africa. It was a five-day conference full of learning, relearning, and unlearning.
With a Bible exposition, two plenaries, a panel session, 10 seminars and an evening revival, each
day was full of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. We are so grateful to the St Andrew’s
Kirk Session for the support that enabled us to be part of this life transforming event.
HIGHLIGHTS.
1. By God’s Grace we managed to take 31 youths from St. Andrew’s. This was the 3rd highest
delegation in the conference.
2. Among the St Andrew’s youth, we had 3 youth from our deaf community.
3. 8 of our youths served as stewards during the conference.
4. 3 of our youths gave their lives to Christ.
5. We were privileged to have our St Andrew’s Youth Director as the Chair of the National
Planning for the summit.
RECOMMENDATIONS
A follow-up event to thank God, share experiences and build accountability for specific
commitments made during the Summit.
For planning purposes, we shared a target to take a full bus to Y-summit 2024.
We highly recommend Youth Summit to be included in the Annual Parish Budget since it is a
national event that occurs annually.
