Vice Chancellor Awarded Coveted
Senior Fellowship by Harvard
University
Dr. Moeed W. Yusuf, Vice Chancellor, has been
named a Senior Fellow at Belfer Center for
Science & World Affairs at Harvard University’s
Kennedy School, acknowledging his outstanding
leadership and policy contributions. His
appointment underscores his vast expertise in
government and academia, notably in addressing
security matters in Pakistan and South Asia.

Consultative Workshop on
Strengthening Policymaking for
Cultural and Creative Industries
BNU hosted a consultative workshop gathering over 70
professionals from diverse backgrounds in cultural and
creative industries to discuss the project, “Improving Data
Collection among National and Provincial Statistical
Agencies to Strengthen Policy Making for the Cultural
and Creative Industries,” funded by the International
Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD) of UNESCO. Led by
Mr. Zaeem Yaqoob Khan, the workshop featured
presentations on the project's goals, inclusive definitions of
cultural terms, and prototypes of economic quantification
instruments tailored for Pakistan's context.
BELYMPIAN 2.0
The second edition of BNU BELYMPIAN 2.0, held in May, 2024, was a dynamic
interuniversity sports event featuring over 800 athletes from various prestigious institutions
in Lahore, including FCCU, LSE, FAST, COMSATS, RIPHAH International, Minhaj
University, CMH, UCL, and BNU. Highlights included FCCU winning the cricket finals
against BNU, LSE's football team triumphing over FCCU, and FCCU's male and female
basketball teams defeating FAST and Minhaj Universities, respectively. In badminton,
LSE's male players excelled against FAST, while BNU's female team overcame FCCU.
FAST University claimed the male table tennis title, with FCCU winning the female
category. FCCU also secured victories in both male and female volleyball and the
throwball match. With such outstanding performances, FCCU was awarded the best
delegation.
Distinguished UK University Leaders Visit
BNU
BNU hosted a distinguished delegation of senior
leaders from UK universities, facilitated through
the efforts of the British Council and HEC
Pakistan. The gathering was dedicated to
enhancing international collaboration and
academic synergies between Pakistan and the
UK.

US Consul General
Uzair Shahid, Head of Innovation & Incubation
at BNU received a plaque from US Consul
General, Kristine Hawkins in Lahore. The award
recognized his efforts to strengthen the Pak-US
Alumni Community by fostering capacity building

MoU Signing Ceremony for
Establishment of China Studies Chair
BNU celebrated a significant milestone with
the signing of an MoU to establish a China
Studies Chair, attended by Consul General of
China in Lahore, Mr. H.E. Zhao Shiren. The
agreement emphasizes academic collaboration
and research between Chinese universities,
think tanks, and BNU. A dedicated course on
Chinese Studies will be introduced at BNU
under this agreement.

Hospitality Management Department


Partners with University of Florida
BNU’s Department of Hospitality and the
School of Hospitality Management at the
University of South Florida, USA, forged a
momentous partnership, marking a significant
step in international academic collaboration.

Our talented girls secured the 1st prize in both the Badminton and Arm Wrestling
categories at the FCCU Sports Fest'2024. It's a testament to their hard work and

Our Badminton champions clinched victories in
Badminton and Arm Wrestling at the FCCU
Olympiad. Mahnoor Shafiq won 1st prize in
Badminton (Doubles), while Wajeeha and

The Economics Society achieved second place
at LSE ECONOTHON 2024, surpassing

and Arghas Qazi, earned a prestigious title

"IRTIQA" by Team BEADS, a mime play designed
and directed by Abdullah Moin, was performed at
Kinnaird Dramafest 2024. The ensemble cast
portrayed human emotions and the need for social
community through precise movements synchronized
to music, impressing the audience and judges.

73rd anniversary of Pakistan-China
diplomatic relations
Beaconhouse Centre for Policy Research (BCPR) and the China Studies Chair organized
the "Panel Discussion to Take Stock of Pakistan-China Special Relationship from 1949-
2024" to commemorate the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations
between Pakistan and China. The event featured a lively exchange of ideas about Pakistan
and China’s close diplomatic relations and support of each other in times of geopolitical
crisis.

BCPR convened a roundtable on "Strengthening Pakistan-US Linkages in Education,

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING!
BBA students, specializing in Marketing,
visited Coronet Foods (English Biscuits - Peek
Freans) in Haripur to gain practical insights
into the production of biscuits and cookies.
During the visit, the students refreshed their
concepts and asked a wide range of questions
related to product development, market
strategies, and more. Additionally, as part of
the excursion, the students explored nearby
locations, striking a balance between academic
study and extracurricular activities.

HACCP Certification
Hospitality Management students successfully
acquired their Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point
(HACCP) Training Certification following a rigorous
two-day training at Pearl Continental Hotel Lahore.

Management, the program enabled students to delve
into essential aspects of food safety, hygiene, and
quality assurance, offering hands-on experience in
exploring kitchen facilities at PC and reinforcing the
seven practical principles of HACCP.

Dr. Atif Hassan, Head of the Department of
Hospitality Management at the School of
Management Sciences (SMS), has been invited as a
Distinguished Speaker at the 10th International
Conference on Hospitality and Tourism
Management 2024 (ICOHT 2024). With the theme
"Diversification and Expansion of Tourism
Products," the conference aims to explore innovative
strategies and trends in the rapidly evolving
hospitality and tourism industry. It is set to take
place from July 25th to 26th, 2024, in Colombo, Sri
Lanka.

Rehan Tayyab, a graduate of Theatre, Film & TV
department, will present his research paper
“Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah (2012): Decoding the
lingua materna of the transgender community in
Pakistan” at the IAMCR conference in
Christchurch, New Zealand. This forthcoming
presentation underscores Rehan Tayyab's ongoing

Clinches International
Awards
In an exceptional feat, Zainab Yunus, an alumna
of the MS Film and TV program, clinched the
Grand Prize and Best Male Diagnosis Award at
the International Festival of Reality Cinema in
Morocco with her film "Hum Awaaz."
Furthermore, her film earned selection for
screening at the prestigious South Asian Film
Festival in Montreal.

Hassam Naeem secured the prestigious position of

Faculty members of the Journalism Department,
including Rana Faizan Ali, Dr. Zeeshan Zaighum,

explores military-public relations in contemporary
