I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the discussion, the students will be able to:
a. explain the concept of community health,
b. value the benefits of a healthy community environment; and
c. create a film that shows the concept of a healthy community.

III. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
2. A quick “Kamustahan” before the class starts.
3. Checking of attendance.
4. Setting the classroom rules.

B. Motivation
1. The teacher will introduce a game called “Word Removal”. Allowing
students to group themselves in to 3 groups.
Direction: Follow the 5 instructions to unlock the hidden massage.
a) Cross out all the words that consists of five or less letters.
b) Cross out all the words that begins with letter S.
c) Cross out contractions (for example, can’t).
d) Cross out words that consist or ten or more letters.
e) Cross out all words that consist of letter O in column 2.
“Community Health Advocate”
2. Teacher will provide the following questions:
“What does the massage tell you, explain your answer.”
“Is acquiring health in the community relevant? Why?”
“What do you think is our topic today?”

C. Presentation
1. The teacher will introduce the topic “Community Health”
2. Teacher will present the objectives.

D. Discussion
1. The teacher will discuss the definition of Health, Community,
Community Health, and Environmental Health.
2. Teacher will discuss the Characteristics of a Healthy Community.
3. Teacher will present the Primary Health Care Programs (Health Center
Services) in the Community and their functions.
4. Teacher will conduct an activity called “Problem Solved!”
5. Allow students to group themselves in to two. First group will provide
five common community problem in the community. Then the second
group will identify what Health Care Programs can address each
problem.

E. Application
“Film”
Direction: Create a film that shows the concept of a healthy community.
Health Care programs are also important to include on addressing different
types of community problems. Be creative, realistic and visionary. The
duration of the film must be a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of
10 minutes.
F. Generalization
1. The teacher will introduce a game called “Cabbage Relay”.
2. In this game, a "cabbage" is made by wrapping layers of paper around
a small object, with each layer containing a question. Students pass the
cabbage around, and when the music stops, the person holding it peels
off a layer and answers the question written on it:

“What is Health?”
“What is a community?”
“What is Community Health?”
“What is Environmental health?”
“Give three Health Care Programs that you can see in your
community?”
“Why is Community Health Important?”

G. Valuing
1. Ask students about “what do you think are the benefits of a healthy
community to you and to your family, how is it important?”
