6. Commissioning
• For commissioning work all the BTS should be up and running with
their dedicated output power.
• For GSM systems the BCCH channel is then used to adjust the input
power to the SRMU
• For modulation that do not have a BCCH with constant power, loss
levelling is used.

6. Commissioning
• This chapter describes the work to
be done to set up a new system,
first installation.
• instead the OTRX a levelling
adaptor has to be installed. Here
you can connect your spectrum
analyser to set the correct input
level at the variable attenuators.

6. Input combiner with IPP current version
• This module provides
additional 15 dB attenuation
in case input power level
exceeds a specific value
• variable attenuators are
used to set correct input
level into SRMU according
the following table.

6. Input level required (min)
• This table shows the required input level;
during the planning process it has to be
ensured that
Required level depending on optimization
– the power of the BTS is sufficient Port
– the losses of the cable, combining and PIN: NF optimized = IICP optimized Pout per carrier
splitting are not too high
-6 dBm / carrier @ 4 carriers 37 dBm
– that the input power to combiners and -9 dBm / carrier @ 8 carriers 34 dBm
splitter does not exceed the rated GSM900
-12 dBm / carrier @ 16 carriers 31 dBm
values
• The input level to be set at the variable
attenuators depends on band – -6 dBm / carrier @ 4 carriers 34 dBm
frequency, number of carriers and the -9 dBm / carrier @ 8 carriers 31 dBm
type of RU connected, etc. GSM1800
-12 dBm / carrier @ 16 carriers 28 dBm
• The table shows the input power
required for a standard ION-M
9/18P/21P – RU. For other types of RU
it is different. Please refer to the manual
37 dBm
-6 dBm / carrier @ 4 carriers
34 dBm
for detailed information.
UMTS -9 dBm / carrier @ 8 carriers
31 dBm
-12 dBm / carrier @ 16 carriers
• These levels have be archived in order
to get required output power from RU

6. Adress setting in SRMU
• Set address at SRMU by
pressing „set / select“ until
correct reading is shown.
