1. What is N4 E-Signature Application?
N4 E-Signature (ESIGN) is an application offered by Tridium Professional that helps Niagara 4 users
mitigate the risk of failed regulatory audits. The E-Signature Application allows Niagara 4 users to
create and manage controlled audit logs of accurate, time and date stamped, and unalterable data.
2. What does N4 E-Signature Application do?
The N4 E-Signature Application offers procedural and technical controls necessary for a compliant
Method of Procedure (MOP) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). It is particularly helpful to
regulated businesses required to meet the FDA’s 21 CFR Part 11.
3. What are the key advantages of N4 E-Signature Application?
Easy to use Point Manager View to select and convert Station Niagara Points to ESIGN Secured
Points
Creates ESIGN Secured Histories
Manages ESIGN Secured Points and Histories over their lifecycle
Customer Zones, Categories, Roles, Users, Reason Sets and Reasons are configurable
Points can be designated as ESIGN Secured (or can remain as standard Niagara points)
ESIGN Secured points require authentication before the value can be changed using actions on
the point
ESIGN Secured Point value changes include Emergency Override, Emergency Auto, Override,
Auto, Emergency Active and Emergency Inactive (all with Authentication)

N4 ESIGN is particularly helpful to regulated businesses required to meet the FDA’s 21 CFR Part 11.
Though achieving 21 CFR Part 11 compliance is one of the key drivers for E-signature module,
similar needs are common in the Industrial segment and buildings requiring stringent control and
audits.
5. Does N4 E-Signature Application require special programming?
N4 E-Signature Application is configured using standard Niagara Workbench tools.
6. Does N4 E-Signature Application require certification?
N4 E-Signature Application doesn’t require certification; however, we recommend taking the Tridium
University N4 E-Signature Application Certification training to expand the application of the product.
7. What platforms does N4 E-Signature Application run?
N4 E-Signature runs on Niagara Supervisor & JACE Controller currently.
8. Is the N4 E-Signature Application software available it the Niagara Marketplace?
Yes. N4 E-Signature Application is available in Niagara Marketplace under the Tridium Professional
Services store.
9. Who can purchase the N4 E-Signature Application software?
ESIGN is available to the Niagara Community.
10. How is ESIGN offered?
ESIGN can be purchased in different packages:

ESIGN-EC-N4-250 250 E-Signature Application for JACE 8000 with 250 ESIGN secured
points.
ESIGN-EC-N4-UNL E-Signature Application for JACE 8000 with unlimited ESIGN secured

11. How is N4 E-Signature licensed?
Each host will have to be licensed separately.
Niagara E-Signature licensing on a supervisor can be bought in multiples of 1000 points or an
unlimited E-Signature secure point version.
On a JACE, license can be bought in multiples of 250 points or an unlimited E-Signature secure
point version.
Points under Niagara network cannot be E-Signature secured under local station.
For supervisor station having no secured point on its own but pulls the JACE secured points as a
proxy point under its Niagara Network, it is required to add the E-Signature component in
supervisor station.
12. How does a customer determine which N4 E-Signature Application package is best for a facility?
Customer can determine the E-Signature Application package on the total number of points that need
to be secured for the application.
