Book: Spectrum Reading 3

You pronounce most words clearly and can be easily understood when you are reading. Sometimes, you
may mispronounce a word, but you make an effort to remember the corrections and mimic the correct
way of saying it. In addition, learning new words during our class helps you build your vocabulary and
can improve the terms you use when making sentences. Continuously exposing yourself to a variety of
materials will aid in learning new words. Furthermore, you have great comprehension of what you read,
and it shows when you answer the activities in the book. Don’t get tired of learning the language; focus
on areas that you need to improve and also make sure to have fun while doing it!

Book: Grammar (Intermediate)

You are making a great effort to express your thoughts effectively about the grammar rules we discuss in
every class. You are capable of constructing both simple and complex sentences, but you may need some
guidance to confirm your understanding and with some sample sentences you are asked to make. There
is commendable experimentation with various sentence structures in your verbal communication,
adding depth and complexity to your spoken English. Additionally, you demonstrate the ability to
understand different sentence patterns, especially on challenging topics. I suggest familiarizing yourself
with more advanced grammar rules to enhance your skills in this area. Congratulations, and keep on
learning the language!

Book: Grammar in Use (Intermediate)

You can provide well-expressed ideas. You have tendencies to make long and winding sentences, but
they are filled with significant ideas that help deepen the discussion. You may still tend to commit minor
grammar mistakes, but you can correct your own sentences once you become aware of them. A
teacher’s guidance is still needed, but not frequently, just to confirm your understanding and to check if
your answers are right. Always take note of the corrections and try to apply the grammar rules taught,
not just in writing but also verbally. Thank you for showing your positive attitude towards learning
English. Be patient with yourself while studying, and congratulations on your improvement!

Teacher’s Name: Jean T. Casa

There is improvement especially on your familiarity with new words introduced to you. You remember
the meaning of the words that were introduced in class, but you need more practice in incorporating
them with basic sentence patterns. You can pronounce words well and enunciate them with clarity when
properly guided. You could mimic correct sounds when repeatedly drilled. Continue to practice
expressing your ideas clearly, both verbally and through writing. That way, you can have a well-
developed vocabulary, spontaneity in your speech, and confidence.

Book: Spectrum Writing 3

You are more conversant now and you organize your thoughts to ensure you'll make correct sentences.
Written and spoken responses are sometimes challenging, especially when discussing complex topics
and ideas; you sometimes use a phrase or a sentence fragment to express yourself when you find it hard
to compose a sentence. There are also times when you are asked to elaborate on your ideas since the
meaning is unclear. On the other hand, your drive to be able to learn more new words is present and you
diligently exert effort to build your vocabulary. You can create a variety of sentences with the new words
you learned and guidance from a teacher is still needed to check the grammar. Don’t be disheartened
when you make mistakes because they are all part of learning. You always have a positive mindset in
learning the language and continue the other positive traits you have and one day you’ll notice that you
are different from what you were before.
Student Name: Sung Yen Shi
Teacher: Jean T. Casa
Book: Grammar (Intermediate)
There is retention of the simple grammar rules we've taught, as observed in your
adherence to some of them when constructing your sentences. While this
consistency may vary, there is a certain degree of improvement. Tasks are being
gradually completed according to the instructions in our book, which shows that you
understand basic vocabulary. However, you sometimes still need guidance in
forming complete sentences with proper grammar, especially in speaking. You
always listen carefully to my questions related to our topic and do your best to
deliver appropriate answers. It’s been a pleasure having class with you. You are very
attentive and enthusiastic. I hope you can overcome your fear of speaking English
and use any mistakes as opportunities to learn and improve further. Good luck!

Student Name: Lin Yu Ching (Irene)

Teacher: Jean T. Casa
Book: Free Talking

You are very expressive with your ideas. You have the initiative to relate the topic to
personal experiences. You can express your thoughts in complex sentences, but you
still often construct simple ones. Moreover, whenever you realize you have
committed a grammar mistake, you tend to correct it yourself.
You are also starting to understand complex questions and the pauses to think of an
appropriate word are decreased. Pauses are still present when you make sentences
but you are beginning to use more complex vocabulary as compared to your
previous classes. You can mimic the corrections made to your pronunciation and
practice them correctly.
I am so proud of you. You have shown your skills and have shown improvement in
most of the categories of your English skills. May you still keep it up. Never stop
learning because it is one of the keys you need to be a better English speaker.

You do your best to accomplish your given tasks. There are times when you still
need a teacher’s guidance in putting your ideas into words. You are overcoming
your hesitation in communication but you tend to use fragmented language.
Nevertheless, your effort in making your ideas come across is commendable.

During the past classes, you had been learning some new vocabulary. Now, I hope
you will be able to use them to express yourself better in English. Just make sure
that you use them appropriately. Read a lot of English books to improve your
familiarity with English words. Being familiar with the words will help you have easy
recognition when you hear them. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes because it is a
natural way of learning. Learn from your mistakes. Never give up on learning
English. Good luck!
