Eve: Hi, mum, are you home?
Mum: Yes, I am in the kitchen.
Eve: Hmmm, what are you cooking? It smells delicious.
Mum: I am making chicken soup with noodles and roast beef with
potatoes.
Eve: I love your chicken soup. Is someone coming tonight?
Are we expecting some guests?
Mum: Yes, granny Paula is coming tonight, and Aunt Mary too.
Eve: Family dinner, then. Are we celebrating something?
Mum: Do not be curious. It is a surprise.
*Bell ringing*
Mum: Ou, that must be them. Eve, go open the door. I have to finish the
dinner.
Eve: Okay, I am coming.
Aunt Mary: Eve, my darling, how are you?
Granny: My sweetheart, you look fantastic! Do you know why we are here?
Eve: Hi Auntie, Hi Granny. No, I don’t know. Mum said it was a surprise.
Granny: I brought my apple pie. I know how you like it.
Eve: Thank you, Granny, this is my favorite! Come on in.
Mum: Hello, Mary. Hi, mum. How are you doing? Are you both healthy?
Granny: I had the flu last week, but now I feel better. I can smell the chicken
soup. Chicken soup can make a corpse alive, I say.
Aunt Mary: I set the table, and you, Sarah, must tell us about your surprise.
Mum: Well, okay. I can see you are too curious. David already knows. I
told him yesterday before he left for his business trip.
Eve: So that Papa knew and did not
tell me anything.
Mum: Yes, I told him to be quiet.
Granny Paula: So, come on. Tell us.
Mum: Well, …
